Yes. Neither myself nor Pooka is seeing the "checkboxes" under User CP / Attachments /

Juniper 12-11-2008 01:05 PM

Wow, I didn't know you could do that! I've just been putting them on my own host. Hm.

Undertoad 12-11-2008 01:06 PM

Space is actually the cheapest resource we have! Don't delete just to save space.

LabRat 12-11-2008 01:09 PM

Well, I can't anyway, so no prob :)

I don't contribute financially like I would like to, so I was trying to do what I could.

Undertoad 12-11-2008 01:20 PM

So being Mrs February in the Cellar calendar didn't appeal to you?

LabRat 12-11-2008 01:36 PM

Technically I wasn't asked. March is my birthmonth though...;)

DanaC 12-11-2008 01:47 PM

I am awful, I just stick pictures on, I don't host them anywhere. I tried it, but I had difficulties with some of the hosting sites.

Juniper 12-11-2008 01:56 PM

I've got my own domain for my business, lots of room there, so that's where I stash those files.

lumberjim 12-11-2008 02:17 PM

yeah...i can't delete ANY of mine.

Pie 12-11-2008 03:00 PM

BWAHAHA! We're saving it all for posterity, Jim. That way, your kids will know all about you.

Clodfobble 12-11-2008 03:13 PM

I think the checkboxes are only for pictures in posts which are still "editable" for text as well. I think the general edit window is 24 hours.

You'd think; but there has always been a "loophole" wherein you could delete attachments from the User CP after the Edit window had closed.

LabRat 12-11-2008 03:23 PM

hahaha, just logged in to say what flint just posted.

xoxoxoBruce 12-12-2008 12:38 AM

If you delete the pictures, or even host them on another domain, when going back and reading old posts they don't make sense with little red x's. :(

lookout123 12-12-2008 10:57 AM

for proof of that, look at the first page of the NSFW thread. Where a picture of Bruce's ginormous something or other should be there is only a little red X.

ZenGum 12-13-2008 07:13 AM

Maybe the picture is more accurate than you think.

Shawnee123 01-08-2009 12:13 PM

I've only been here forever, and I just noticed there is a "beest" and a "beestie." Wait a minute...which one is married to monster? Are they related? I'm confused. Halp!

Clodfobble 01-08-2009 12:17 PM

Beest is married to monster.

Shawnee123 01-08-2009 12:23 PM

Thanks. :)

Who is up to funny business? :eyebrow:

Oh, and they have PMs turned off. Sooooo clever.

Keep trying, you'll never be me...there just is no other.

Shawnee123 01-13-2009 12:36 PM

lol...paranoid much?

capnhowdy 01-15-2009 05:16 PM

Should I delete cookies on this site? If so, how often and what will be the result?

I don't think I ever have. Just wondering.

Undertoad 01-15-2009 05:33 PM

Deleting Cellar cookies will cause it to forget where you are in the forums. Cookies aren't harmful in general and deleting them is probably a waste of time.

Trilby 01-15-2009 05:38 PM

Cookies in moderation aren't harmful. Tony, why are you trying to mislead our young people? Everyone knows cookies are a "sometimes" food.

capnhowdy 01-15-2009 05:52 PM

Thanks UT.
Obviously I'm not computer savvy. Had a crash not long ago and I'm a little skittish.

..heads to cookie jar. Moderately...

Do you Aussie's have Pecan Sandies? I loves me some of them!

Aliantha 01-15-2009 07:46 PM

Not that I know of. I know they're not available up here. If they were, they sound like something i might enjoy...in which case I'd know about them. lol

We do have tim tams though...although I'm sure you're all sick of hearing about how fabulous they are.

kerosene 01-16-2009 10:34 AM

Not the tim tams again. Damn, I had almost forgotten how much I wish I could have some.

Aliantha 01-16-2009 05:24 PM

Well you can have some if you want to send me your address. I'm afraid I lost yours when I cleaned up. :)

xoxoxoBruce 01-17-2009 12:50 AM

Tim Tams

Is Firefox a better browser than IE (espescially on this site)? If you think so, what are its advantages. I'm thinking about downloading it but would appreciate some input before I do all that.
I've noticed that some sites recommend Firefox. You guys have never steered me wrong.

Undertoad 01-20-2009 08:52 PM

Firefox is an excellent browser, and it's what I recommend. It's easy to test drive, if you just want to download it and take it for a spin. Firefox has been faster than IE at security enhancements and new features, and with add-ons you can often improve what you need to do and improve your browsing experience.

This site should work similarly in all modern browsers. so no need to switch just for here.

classicman 01-20-2009 08:59 PM

I haven't used IE since some people here recommended Firefox about 3-4 years ago. Its been nothing short of great since then.

NoBoxes 01-21-2009 04:22 AM

Banned User Symbolism

UT, in some forums the administration uses their position titles as user titles and color codes them for emphasis (e.g. Administrator, Moderator).

Could we, for banned users, distinguish between those who voluntary terminated their participation and those who were involuntarily terminated? The two rationales for banning are very different. If you have the ability, please consider putting the word "Banned" in a color other than black for those who requested that status.

ZenGum 01-21-2009 06:10 AM

Nice idea. Or maybe a different phrase ... "on gardening leave" or "having a nice cup of tea and a lie down".

capnhowdy 01-21-2009 06:33 AM

Thanks for the input. Most people have leaned toward firefox since I've been checking. I will give it a whirl this eve.

Undertoad 01-21-2009 07:41 AM

It's a good idea NB, but right now all users to into the same banned box no matter what, so I'm not sure there's a way. If there was, I'd add text to it too: "banned by request" or some such.

Undertoad 01-21-2009 07:44 AM

Oh! There was a way, and it's actually kind of easy.

Although once in a while all banned users are purged, so their status changes to just gone.

monster 01-30-2009 08:05 AM

Where's that awesome gap picture of Jinx's arse? I tried their vacation threads and Labrat's ass thread ...don't tell me they removed it? Jinx, Jim, have pity on a poor calendar girl... you left chat last night just as I came back to ask you.....

When I'm at home, to get to the cellar, I just type "cellar" in the google toolbar, and then come here from the search results.

Why does Google warn me this morning that the Cellar is evil? I've never seen this before.

And now it's back to normal. Must have been a Google glitch.

Hey UT...or someone...how many posts have to be approved before a new member can post freely, without approval?

Undertoad 02-04-2009 06:29 PM

1, but automation takes a little time afterwards for it to happen.

Shawnee123 02-21-2009 11:37 AM

Has something changed? It used to be when I hit "new posts" I would get a list that started with unviewed new posts, then a line, then the list would continue on to posts that hadn't been updated since my last log-in.

Now I get new posts that I haven't viewed...but to see the rest of it I have to click "here" to get to the list.

Is this something in my settings or has it changed? Just wondering.

xoxoxoBruce 02-21-2009 11:49 AM

Strange. maybe the number of "new posts" exceeds the number of entries you allow per page? I'm really only guessing here. :)

Shawnee123 02-21-2009 12:04 PM

No, because it varies. Sometimes there is nothing there, and I have to "click" next to get the chronological list.

Also, everything is set to forum default in that arena.

xoxoxoBruce 02-21-2009 12:07 PM

Must be a conspiracy. ;)

Shawnee123 02-21-2009 12:08 PM

Oh hush...

I just thought someone else would have seen this, or encountered it.

brat...

xoxoxoBruce 02-21-2009 12:18 PM

:p Perhaps UT can explain it.
