According to the picture, 'this' would be vitamin R.

Hmmm... Wonder if that's anything like vitamin F... You can only find that in powdered toast, though. :D

Of course, most of us have custom user titles anyway, so what's the purpose of this list?

lookout123 11-18-2007 04:48 PM

it hasn't been that long since everyone switched over to using custom user titles. it was always fun to watch them change.

Is this new? Regardless, thank you. I find it very useful.

lookout123 11-27-2007 05:30 PM

it's always been there V. i only used that feature once for a very short period of time, but i remember that part.

Griff 11-27-2007 05:37 PM

It looks like BigV and I are on the same wave-length. I haven't touched that button yet. I only read Lookout's replies. Muttley's sinister laugh

I wind up clicking that button about 5% of the time. It's usually not worth it.

Cloud 12-01-2007 08:28 PM

Did you see that the "most users ever" has been updated to Sept. 30 07? It was at the old record for quite some time, wasn't it?

xoxoxoBruce 12-01-2007 08:40 PM

Wonder what they were looking at?

Cloud 12-01-2007 08:46 PM

well, if YOU don't know . . .

LabRat 12-03-2007 08:51 AM

Hey, UT:

My signature has decided it wants to be big, despite re-resizing it to "1" again. (I noticed some others have grown too.) I'll remove it if it won't be small again, but just an FYI.

appears REALLY tiny to me

monster 12-03-2007 09:03 AM

me too.

did you maybe put the wrong eyeglasses on, LR?

LabRat 12-04-2007 11:08 AM

OK, now looks back to normal. Dunno if you did anything, or it was just my 'puter...thanks either way.

**i did make it 'narrow' but when it went back to normal, it was too small. prob just a glitch on my end anyway. Sry.

LJ 12-04-2007 11:10 AM

try holding down [ctrl] and scrolling your mouse wheel

LabRat 12-04-2007 11:13 AM

No, that wasn't the prob, thanks though! For some reason just the sigline text was too big on mine and a few other poster's posts...fixed now. Who knows. *shrug*

Sorry, I thought it might be a glitch with the Cellar's software (or something technical that didn't have to do with my computer) so I'd let you know. But nevernimd since apparently I was just high for a few hours.

Undertoad 12-04-2007 03:11 PM

Oh - I was confused already then

Sundae 12-05-2007 04:28 PM

This isn't specifically about this site, sorry. But you guys are the smartest people I know. Also it was prompted by the Video thread.

Why do I sometimes get YouTube perfectly, and sometimes in 20 second/ 10 second/ 3 flaming second bursts? It drives me crazy, I never know whether to click on a link or not. If I knew it would cut on and off I would just abandon it, it's the times it is fine that tempt me back.

LJ 12-05-2007 04:33 PM

it's cuz the file is loading as it's playing. it has to do with speed of conection, and the traffic on their site. if you notice, the little red bar at the bottom has a gray part that leads it across....that's how much of the file has loaded. if it's taking too long, hit pause......dont go away from the page....and hit play when the grey line has a good lead.

That's exactly what I had to do B4 I had Bellsouth upgrade my DSL.

As soon as a video page loaded @ youtube, I would click the play/pause button, and let the video download to my browser cache, and then start the playback. Now that my connection is faster, I don't need to do that...most of the time.

Cloud 12-31-2007 05:16 PM

wish I there was a way to show a clock indicating the time zone. Sometimes it's useful to be aware of what time zone other people are, and I can't keep that stuff in my head.

(it tends to leak)

BigV 12-31-2007 05:18 PM

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/

Cloud 12-31-2007 10:33 PM

I have no problem finding a world clock, thanks, but I mean a widget that would show on my Cellar posts.

xoxoxoBruce 01-01-2008 07:08 AM

What difference does it make what time the post was made, or you reply, in the posters home time zone? It's not a phone where you might wake them by posting. Your reply won't wither and blow away, before they get back to read it. You've completely confused me.

monster 01-01-2008 03:08 PM

More effective stalking ;)

It's mostly for the convenience of others, as an enhancement to "conversation." For instance, sometimes it's helpful to know if a poster is sipping their morning coffee or tucking themselves into bed for their beauty sleep.

If people actually put where they were living under their names that would do the trick.

Cloud 01-01-2008 07:24 PM

yeah, it would. Assuming one can keep time zones in mind, and do math.

Rather big assumptions when it comes to me, I'm afraid.

I need to circumnavigate the globe!

:D

Cloud 01-01-2008 10:03 PM

thank you. but a wee bit too big to put on every post, doncha think?

TheMercenary 01-01-2008 10:08 PM

Yea, no not on every post silly woman!

Just for you to look up where everyone was and make it easy to figure out time. Simple math.

But it would only work if people posted where they were. So I guess it will never work. :D

But then you're reading between the lines and making assumptions that may not be valid, or worse embarrassingly wrong.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Cloud 01-01-2008 11:48 PM

we all go through life interpreting data, and we may often be wrong, and often embarassed. So what?

monster 01-01-2008 11:59 PM

Uh, What's happening here? The cellar is moving really really slow and it keeps alternating between the classic blue appearance and the newer brown/blue look.

Cloud 01-04-2008 07:52 PM

Solved, (re the time zone thingy), tho' it's not very fun.

Mine seems fine, lookout. But I have mine on light blue/safe whatever at work.

classicman 01-05-2008 11:35 AM

Was using the random thread picker and this came up:

vBulletin Message
classicman, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. New users can't post threads until they are confirmed non-spammers. (Reply to a few existing threads to prove you're a real person.)
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
3. Or it could be something else you don't have permission to do. Sorry!

SteveDallas 01-05-2008 11:42 AM

1. Please remember the "random thread picker" is not supported by The Cellar. It's just a little piece of perl script that I scraped off the bottom of my shoe one day.

2. All it does it pick a number at random and gives you the thread corresponding to that number. It doesn't even attempt to verify that the thread in question exists or is available. Most likely you hit the jackpot and got a thread that had been deleted, or one from a private forum, or something like that. In other words, this is fairly normal behavior.

classicman 01-05-2008 12:03 PM

interesting - I've been using it quite a bit and this was the first time that had occurred.

Aliantha 01-05-2008 07:35 PM

Quote:

Threads don't get deleted here.

Happy Monkey 01-05-2008 08:56 PM

Everything has exceptions. He might have hit the "DoDads" thread, which was accidentally deleted. Or a spammer thread.

Undertoad 01-05-2008 10:20 PM

There are like 5 threads in the moderator forum, so maybe it was one of those.

classicman 01-06-2008 12:08 AM

I just had a thought - maybe it was a locked thread. Any chance of that happening? In case you missed it here is the link again.

classicman 01-06-2008 12:53 AM

It's a thread about whether to ban Marichiko or not.
