OK, so this has been happening for a few months now. Or - I noticed this happening a few months ago. Notice the color is different in the 2nd thread?
I've seen this on 3-4 different threads over the last few months. It seems to stay that way for an indeterminate amount of time. Can anyone explain what is causing it? Curious more than anything.

Gravdigr 01-28-2017 05:02 PM

Same color on my screen.

On second scrutinization, it may be a teensy shade darker, but not by much. And it may just be my eyes.

Not much help am I?

Gravdigr 02-03-2017 02:00 PM

Would the recent changes here on the Cellar affect TinEye searches?

Currently, I right-click on a pic, click Search Image On TinEye. ATM, I can not get any results from pics on the Cellar.

glatt 02-03-2017 02:07 PM

Interesting. I tried searching for one of my bandsaw pics. Did you know I built a bandsaw?

I did it through Google image search and it led me to the Cellar.

But then I realized you said TinEye, so I searched there, and they couldn't find the bandsaw thread. I made a bandsaw!

Flint 02-03-2017 02:08 PM

Folks, folks, we can't lose sight of the real issue here--glatt made a bandsaw!!

glatt 02-03-2017 02:14 PM

Exactly!

Gravdigr 02-03-2017 02:16 PM

I may have read something about that.

Undertoad 02-03-2017 02:16 PM

:( they don't care about us or the saw

Flint 02-03-2017 02:27 PM

saw ur finger off and post a FAIL! video, then we'll talk

classicman 02-03-2017 06:40 PM

Not sorry, that wuz funnies.

sexobon 03-17-2017 06:50 PM

She mentioned that she was leaving her brother the password years ago. I don't know why I remembered that, but I bet its somehow searchable, maybe.

Dude111 03-22-2017 03:49 AM

I really love this place..... A good place to be and on excellent software!!

sexobon 04-16-2017 10:15 AM

On the Who's Online page @approx. 10AM, there was a ton of guest listings Replying to thread with red stop sign icons indicating they're Viewing no permission message. Would that be an attempted spam attack? If so, can you tell whether it's manual; or, automated?

ETA: 10:45 AM and they're still coming. It seems to happen in waves, must be automated.

ETAA: 11:40 and still at it. This place must be popular.

ETAA&A: Must be an Easter Spamathon.

I see what you did there...

Were the googly eyes up on April 6th this year? I don't remember seeing them. If not, will there be a belated googly eyes celebration?

sexobon 04-23-2017 09:46 PM

Well, I went back and checked the official record for April 6th and there was no mention of International Googly Eyes Day. How could something of that magnitude fall through the cracks? It's as though we're experiencing an alternative history where this never happened.

monster 04-23-2017 10:55 PM

Oh it happened. I was so caught up in the facebook side of things I guess I figured The Cellar would take care of itself. Mybad. It has been decreed that -goiing forward- it will actually be known as Intergalactic Googly Eye Day.

monster 04-23-2017 10:56 PM

Beest has a picture of the IGD buttons from this year which I am sure he will share with you

sexobon 04-23-2017 11:43 PM

I was concerned that such a catastrophic event could happen; so, long, long ago and far, far away ... in the furthest reaches of The Cellar ... preparations were made for just such an occasion. Engage hyperlink.

In the true spirit of openness and inclusion that Googly eyes embody, from now on it will be InterGalactic Googly Eye day.

BigV 04-24-2017 03:13 PM

I wish the maximum file size for uploaded files was larger. Getting my pictures resized down under 175kb is a bit of a hassle. I wonder if storage space is still as expensive and precious now as it was when that limit was chosen.

monster 04-24-2017 06:52 PM

Several members of the family wore the IGED buttons at Beest's birthday dinner (coincidentally on the same day) ....and even the server wore one.

Undertoad 04-24-2017 07:26 PM

Max file size for uploaded attachment images is now 300k.

monster 04-24-2017 07:42 PM

Thanks UT!

It would still be courteous to make them fit the screen, like under 14 inches.
I get emailed pictures from phones that are 47 inches wide.

Thank you sir.

One more quickie--where's the tip jar link that I may express my gratitude?

*please*

Point well taken!

I shoot for 800x600, and I have the math down to make that happen with fairly high confidence. But the complexity of the picture does sometimes mean that the jpeg compression can't get it under the previous limit and I only had smaller and smaller and smaller options.

glatt 04-25-2017 08:28 AM

800x600 is a good standard. I don't think it needs to be technologically enforced, but we should all make an effort to stay at 800x600 or smaller unless there is a compelling reason to do otherwise.

Flint 04-25-2017 03:06 PM

What about shock collars? Like, you can post them, but you're *encouraged* not to.

Thank you Undertoad.

This change made my mass posting of scores of pictures to the SakuraCon thread *much* easier, really, thank you.

A minor point, the actual limit, at least for .jpg files is slightly less than 300k. I don't know if this is an important or useful bit of feedback for you, but now you have it.

Thanks again, big improvement to the usability of the cellar.

WTF?

sexobon 05-20-2017 07:06 PM

That was previously mentioned and probably explained.

ETA: It would be nice if someone in The Cellar administration would contact him and apprise him of invisible mode so it would't be confusing to others, especially people returning from long sabbaticals.

ETAA: Classicman was correct.

I disagree. Leave the poor guy alone, we can handle it and he might feel awkward enough being here without having someone tell him he's doing it wrong.

sexobon 05-21-2017 12:12 PM

It's not a matter of right or wrong. We get peeps coming back after long absences from The Cellar and they may not even know about Sundae's passing. Seeing the account active could be misleading. Those who do know; but, don't recall Sundae's provisions for the account, may wonder if the account was pirated or hacked.

For all we know, he might appreciate the privacy if invisible mode was brought to his attention. Not everyone pays attention to that feature. IIRC, there was another dwellar, who had been here for awhile, who asked why some people didn't show up on the Currently Active Users list.

I think it would be a kindness all the way around.

glatt 05-21-2017 12:35 PM

I personally don't think this rises to the level of an official moderator action being needed. Anybody can send a friendly pm to that account if they think it's necessary.

Doesn't wildlife normally live next to nature?

I think some wildlife lives in Nature, and some lives in my basement. Which is only natural in a chaos theory kind of a way.

But the wildlife I see next to nature is usually dead at the edge of an unnatural road.

monster 06-29-2017 09:54 PM

any chance of an option to include the pictures when you quote a post containing pictures?

Undertoad 06-29-2017 09:59 PM

no that's really hard to do

monster 06-29-2017 10:38 PM

thanks for the quick response :) worth asking....

xoxoxoBruce 06-30-2017 12:17 AM

They have that on another vBulleten site I frequent, but it's a pain in the ass. Somebody will post a couple of pictures and some dialog explaining what he was doing.
Then at least a half dozen people will quote the post, and write "Cool", or "I like that", or maybe "Looking good", but for each of those posts I have to scroll through the original pictures over, and over, and over again. Usually a half dozen times or more. Takes up pages of thread. :smack:

glatt 08-02-2017 08:23 AM

User Snakeadelic asked via PM to be banned. So I did.

xoxoxoBruce 08-02-2017 12:34 PM

sexobon 08-02-2017 05:29 PM

sexobon 08-03-2017 05:20 PM

So you think she has multiple personality disorder too?

Flint 08-11-2017 01:52 PM

I know that there is a thread called "What is Art?" but the search function will not find it.

How can I find it??

I want to post this:
https://cellar.org/showthread.php?p=...d=1#post993812

This is art.

oh

glatt 08-11-2017 02:32 PM

actually UT, would it be an easy task for you to put in a new search link adjacent to the existing one on the cellar "tool bar" that performs a google search of cellar.org? Or maybe as an option in the drop down menu under "search?"

It is a little unhelpful that the vBulletin search function doesn't search common words or short words.

If it's a big job, then ignore this.

Works exactly the same.
