Fixing shit is very gratifying

Damn straight.

Amen.

That's why we have "FIFY."

Breaking shit that desperately deserves it can be very satisfying also.

Hoping Polo Girl's long-planned Spring Break trip might actually work out. She's the biggest Harry potter Freak and doing a masters degree in Florida. So visiting the Wizarding World was immediately on her plans once accepted. And now COVID. Many parks in Orlando have closed. She drove down today. universal says it's closing on Monday. Hoping beyond all hope she gets her visit in on Sunday. She's too knackered from driving to do it tomorrow. Please stay open per your aannouncement, Universal
It needs to be this year. Next Spring she wanted to do Starwars, But... highly unlikely her required dig in Rome is going to go ahead this summer, so she might have to be fulfilling that course requirement next spring |
Could be a lot less crowded on Sunday.

The biggest thing in her favor is she's young and healthy, so even if exposed to it she'll have flu symptoms for a week or two then be immune.
|
Not sure about the immunity, don't think there's sufficient evidence yet...but yes, I'm not shitting bricks about this venture. I think she should do it. She is young but wise, it will be fine. She just needs to stay away from her more aged profs when she gets back
|
Your right I just read the immunity is a no go. :(

Is that Hogwarts regulation dress, I was expecting jeans, should have known better.:smack:
|
My child does not wear jeans. Never has. She has one pair of jeggings she wheels out if there's a requirement for a team pic or motorcycle training course....
They had a fab time, no lines, perfect weather front row on all the rides, I'm so happy :D |
That's great, better than a visit in normal times.

Being a parent is the hardest work I've ever loved.
Also the hardest work I've ever done. |
Fuck.
|
I got a letter in the snail-mail today that was a little bit thick as if it had some padding in it. It was a government mailing from the village I live in. I wasn't expecting anything and wondered what it could be. It was a half dozen surgical masks wrapped in a half sheet of paper with a message encouraging either using them; or, if not needed, giving them to someone who could.
|
Beats a lawsuit.

Better than a kick in the face with a golf shoe.:/

Something I've mentioned elsewhere, the paperwork for my new job (hopefully). Forms are my kryptonite. I read the instructions as carefully as I can and I usually overthink the expected answer, get wrapped around the axle, strain myself until I finally give up and just enter the answer they wanted in the first place. Or at least my best effort.
Wish me luck. |
If the Covid don't get us the paperwork will. good luck
|
As of yet nobody's successfully memed up the Corvid COVID.

Two more weeks of school. Gotta figure out what the hell we're doing for the month of June.

I could make you some huge word searches with a few of the words not actually in there?

These ass-clowns have managed to close the Michigan legislature.

I heard the Michigan legislature is nonessential anyway.

Highlight of the whole experience was the rooster crowing in the background of one of her many calls with the carrier, and the guy acting a little flustered every time it crowed. |
Keryx just did that and it was easy.

but I am using it right now. I hate all of the ring tones, alarms etc and it keeps displaying screenfuls of info about itself at inappropriate times like when the alarm was going off so I can't read them before I need to dismiss them. I feel old and useless because I don't like change in this way. Also, this was another of the things best always took care of because he liked it and I hated it :( |
Monster The Cat was headed for the tall and uncut last time she was seen.
Just after the fireworks started. |
Monster will be fine.
|
And she is!
She tucked right into the Capt D's leftovers this morning... Dis kitteh do not like noise. She's MIA all day when Popdigr mows the yard. |

Excellent, now quiet down!

Polo Girl is coming to visit! Originally I thought it was Tuesday, but then a week or so ago I checked my calendar and it was showing up on Thursday. OK. I just went to check my email for flight number/time -turns out it is Tuesday after all. I apparently have the flight correctly in my calendar at the right time on Tues, and then the multi-day event incorrectly starting Thursday. Fortunately, I was unusually ahead of myself with cleaning her room (because procrastinating taxes) so I have over half of it steam vacced and dry and the other half planned for this evening, but it's a little tighter than I had thought.... :D Still, I'm still way ahead of where I usually would be so there's that... (no taxes done, tho.... i've kind of glanced at them and filled in two lines...)
Turns out she thought it was Wednesday til she checked earlier....  |

She's having a nice time socially distantly catching up with her friends in the back yard. It s going to be hard when she leaves knowing where she's going back to, but her college semester starts mid August. It is all online, but she wants to be in her own place with her own things and her significant other

Hmm... maybe he knows more about mail fraud than we thought.

Silly bunny, he know all there is to know about every type of fraud.:smack:

At least two things are making me a tad apprehensive:
Ten days, no Gravdigr. Can't find missing cellarites category. |
he'll be fine. He has a Monster. (Uppercase M)
|
I was very apprehensive that working the election (which is a paid position but I did not do it for that) would completely fuck up my unemployment insurance -not just for that week but onward....
...but it seems that it maybe didn't. I just filed for the last two weeks, and my payment was reduced for the first (which included election day) but was regular for the second. I guess time will tell for sure... |
What might be making you a tad apprehensive?
Put my little Cherry Bomb (m'car) is the carspital Thursday. I've got a laundry list of things that need to be addressed, and decided to take care of a couple of them. The brakes are completely wonky. The rears are jerky when ya first start the car, and they lock up the first coupla times ya use them, then they're fine, well, they're ok. I'm not sure if the fronts work at all.
Also, most of the time, on a cold start it wants to idle at like 2000 rpm. It's an old throttle body fuel injection, and no telling what's wrong there, I know fuckall about that. Between not-so-easy-to-find-parts and labor, I'm expecting to spend right around a thousand bucks. And haven't even started on the front end. It needs a bumper cover, the actual steel bumper behind it, brackets for same, the hood latch mount, a headlight bucket, two headlights, two parking lights, air dam. The ragtop has a hole that needs to be re-repaired, too. The weather-stripping is also pretty sad in spots. I may not live long enough to get this car right. |
you will.
|
You are not obligated to get it right, just good enough to make it safe and you're comfortable with it.
|
Heh, but I want it right...
The car doctor $till ha$ it, btw. Not $o much a$ a phone call.:thepain: |

I fergot about the windows. Only the driver's window behaves like it oughta. And I need to investigate a better fix for that top... I said I would top out my investment in this car at $2500. That included the purchase price (I got $200 in the car, not counting what Uncle Donald gave me back in the spring:D). A $1000 repair bill will put me perilously close to that number. |
