Hi tubbyfunster. Your wiggly line is frightening. Maybe try something solid and reassuring, like a box.
xoxoxoBruce • Jan 19, 2006 5:09 pm
Welcome to the Cellar, tf. :) Where did you see the link?
Undertoad • Jan 19, 2006 5:36 pm

wolf • Jan 20, 2006 12:51 am
It was attempted and it didn't work. That's why we're regulars.

Well, that and the free crack with every 1,000 posts.

This forum is almost devoid of pig fighting. Good job, you guys and gals.
Elspode • Jan 20, 2006 1:59 pm
Do we get to choose whose crack is shipped to us?
capnhowdy • Jan 20, 2006 6:07 pm
Why can't we just be shipped TO the crack?

Hiya. The welcomes only hurt if you go from zero to stupid on your first post. Otherwise, we're a pretty friendly bunch.

Oh, and we only like edible Spam, and some of us not even that.

I hope you learned your lesson with me and got rid of the I-Village one.
Undertoad • Jan 23, 2006 1:00 am
I've never run anything on iVillage.
marichiko • Jan 23, 2006 1:31 am
Well, someone did. There was a little sidebar ad with the monkeys and typewriters that appeared for a week or so on an I-village forum called "Guy Talk." I was pretty bored with I-village so I clicked on the ad. Maybe LJ put it on there as a joke without telling anyone. :eyebrow:
Undertoad • Jan 23, 2006 2:16 am
I've never created a graphic ad with the monkeys and typewriters. In fact the only graphic ads I've ever done were for IotD.
NotAnAngel • Jan 23, 2006 3:19 am
I found the Cellar by accident. I was clicking through a few sites I have posted on in the past. lo and Beholdd. one of them was closing down and people were submitting URLs of other sites, you were one... :)

I know this is of nooooooo interest at all just NOW... however, once I become an established, prolific and truly PRIZED poster, I wont remember how I got here..... :D
Tonchi • Jan 23, 2006 3:31 am
The way I ended up here a year ago is proof that Google is losing all touch with reality :D I had an Ebay auction which was won by somebody who gave an address in Mexico for a city that I never heard of. I wrote and asked him if it was a Colonia of Mexico City, but he never answered. Map searches turned up 3 towns in Mexico with that name, not near each other. This had become more trouble than it was worth. I googled México the state, trying to pinpoint one of those towns, and there was a link to The Cellar because the name appeared in a post supposedly from a helicopter pilot who posted a photo of a newly-constructed massive public housing project. Following the menus backwards, I got out of the photo section and into the "meat" of this website.

It helps if you don't stumble on one of our survivalist/guns post first ;)

If I remember correctly, UT was spreading bread crumbs on a libbeytarian list 5k posts ago.

I really don't believe you have to have 500 posts to be considered a "good poster" here... I dunno about others but I take everyone seriously and enjoy people's posts no matter how many posts they have. There is a meaning to having thousands of posts but hey, it's as much chance as anything.

100 good posts is better than 5000 posts all in the word association thread.
mrnoodle • Jan 23, 2006 10:25 am
sometimes the word association thread is the only place someone makes sense.

Well, I may be wrong about the monkey's part, but someone did put an ad for the cellar on I-village that ran for a very brief period.

Sometime in the early 90s I had this copy of Delaware Valley Computer User ...
Elspode • Jan 23, 2006 1:47 pm
I stumbled here, bored to tears three New Years Eves ago, after doing a Google search for "online community" or some such. It was a lucky hit (well, for me...others here would probably differ).
NotAnAngel • Jan 23, 2006 4:16 pm
Funny thing about Word Association type threads, I think they do serve a purpose on Forums. I started one called Just A Word a few months back on a site I just left. Its now into 4000 posts and believe me the Forum was/is quite dismal. Their chat room had just died a horrible death and people were suspicious of the Forums. I think its the equivelent of a Chat Room "Hiiiiiiii" ...*wavy smiley emoticon* lets people know youre around but not in the mood for specifics.

tubbyfunster hasn't posted here in awhile. You people. You must play the fish till it's tired, don't just start hauling on the line. Another one throws the hook....
