Fired Monday, hired Wed, start Friday

The Silicon Valley still works in Internet Time.

My CEO cancelled my project and fired me. The whole thing looks fishy to some of my friends. One of my friends that is a CFO elsewhere was particularly helpful over the phone Monday night; she's my main career councelor these days. Being an out of work 50 yo engineer could be dangerous.

Fortunately, I had an offer from October that I was able to renew. So I will start on Friday at an early stage company. It turns out the office building is the same one I worked in during 97-98. It's a great 14 person company with well known successful founders.

Also, my name was in today's local newspaper quoting my off-the-cuff 2006 Prediction for free Wi-Fi. And, I sold some Warriors tix for major profit yesterday.

Pretty wild way to start the new year.

Rock On.

Thanks. Well, my earlier courtship with the new company hastened my demise at the old company. Statistically most people that accept counter-offers to stay at their old company are released within 6 months.

I look forward to starting work at my 8th startup company; a new challenge, a clean slate.

Do they know about your fascination with fishnets?

No. I have a clean slate over there. They don't know my darkest secrets, all spilled out here at The Cellar. I decided not to go into work dressed as a girl anymore. ;-) Co-incidentally 2 of 3 faux Marias have been fired since Halloween.
