12/8/2005: Panda dog

Suggested by xoB - not really a Friday image because it's... a fake. I guess. They admit it, the folks who dyed this poodleish dog to look like a panda. His name is Columbo, he lives in Japan. He had bad tear staining around his eyes, so they decided to dye him and turn him into a panda.



Cute enough to be a Friday image, and I'm late enough on Thursday to make it a Friday image, but no! It's a fake!



But somehow curious and funny too. His new look has made him into an attraction of sorts.

I wonder if you could breed dogs to get to that paintjob?

Dog abandoned for being ugly.
Pet Shop Owner/hairdresser gives the dog a makeover.
Everyone loves the "new" dog.
The whole world feels ashamed they were judging the dog, and by extension, people, on looks alone.
World peace in our time. :right:

And all the time it was right under our noses.

The dog's darn cute and he's got the right markings, but he doesn't have the fluffiness to qualify for panda cuteness. Wasn't there a story recently of a dog in China (a Chow Chow?) whose owner dyed him to look like a panda? He had the panda thing going on.
