Oh, dear, John Bobson's discovered the Cellar and written a song about it

Cyclefrance • Sep 8, 2005 4:59 pm
It's called The Cellar (.org)
Elspode • Sep 8, 2005 5:09 pm
Oh oh...I hope the glaring spotlight of international pop music fame doesn't ruin us.

I was going to say, "what did we ever do to him", but by the time the song ended, it was more like "I'm not sure I could have done any better than this...its kind of cute."
elSicomoro • Sep 8, 2005 5:11 pm
*rofl*...and I got mentioned in the song!
Radar • Sep 8, 2005 5:43 pm
That was a pretty cool and catchy little tune. :D
lumberjim • Sep 8, 2005 5:43 pm
THAT ROCKS
lumberjim • Sep 8, 2005 6:04 pm
oh, is the person that requested it going to own up? any guesses?
Cyclefrance • Sep 8, 2005 6:21 pm
Sorry folks - but JB happens to be family - younger son no less..!
Undertoad • Sep 8, 2005 7:04 pm
Good work by him!
Clodfobble • Sep 8, 2005 10:24 pm
What an enterprising son you have, Cyclefrance! So, can you tell us if he actually pulls in a reasonable amount of money in donations? I hope he does.
richlevy • Sep 8, 2005 10:52 pm
Cool song. I knew I should have picked a clever handle when I had the chance. I guess richlevy just doesn't rhyme with anything.
zippyt • Sep 8, 2005 11:03 pm
WELL DONE !!!!!
Hell I Even got mentioned !!!!!

Not so much - I think he needs to make a bigger portion available to Katrina and then people probably will give more - 50% clawback is a bit too much. He works in IT as a full time job and this is more a hobby. Not sure he wants to sit down composing songs too much. He amazes me that he can turn them out the way he does in any event.
Trilby • Sep 9, 2005 6:27 am
That was GREAT! The Spanish Flamenco-like ending, complete with "Aiy-Aiy-Aiy!" was inspired! Very nicely done!
xoxoxoBruce • Sep 9, 2005 6:53 am
Kudos! :thankyou:
Cyclefrance • Sep 9, 2005 7:02 am
With all these congrats, perhaps I can persuade one or two of you to post a comment in his guest book - every little positive accolade nourishes the inspirational juices (or so he tells me...)

That might explain his proclaimed poverty....
Slurpy • Sep 9, 2005 8:06 am
I just tried donating and the link worked ok for me.. perhaps it's been fixed?
melidasaur • Sep 9, 2005 10:16 am
Way cool! Made my day!
ashke • Sep 9, 2005 10:27 am
Loved the cute accent =D It's as cool as things go!
Troubleshooter • Sep 9, 2005 10:52 am
I'm disappointed in two things:

1) I'm not in the song,

2) he didn't rhyme cellar with fart-smeller.
wolf • Sep 9, 2005 11:30 am
I agree on #1 there. :weep: I also am among the missing. I suspect it has something to do with not posting in the original bobson thread.

But #2, well ... uh ... rhymes are not essential to his creativity!

Well if someone here requests a song for you and sonny-boy decides to compose it, I'll assert my paternal influence to esnure that both 1) and 2) are included in it. In fact I can almost picture the first line now:

'Troubleshooter is a guy from the cellar...'

Need help with the second line though...
BigV • Sep 9, 2005 1:13 pm
when it comes to farts, he's maker and smeller!

Eh?
BigV • Sep 9, 2005 1:21 pm
Crap! I listened to the song, read the thread, answered the call of my muse and completely forgot to applaud John Bobson's brilliance! :smack:

:standing ovation:

Great Work! Thanks!

I'm sure he does - will try get details for you when he emerges from his morning slumber....

Not to the best of my recollection.

It was too early for my brain to work out who you were really asking so relied on automatic to do it :bonk: . Not a good idea...but you may get a private message from JB (aka 'me boy') giving his paypal account details as a result (or then again you may not - lif'e's interesting like that - always a cliff-hanger somewhere along the road)
xoxoxoBruce • Sep 10, 2005 12:07 pm
I can get to the link OK and then if you have a paypal account you click on one way and if not you click on another way. Paypal told me awhile ago that I'd reached my limit of total value of transactions without giving them my bank account numbers. Well, there's no way in hell I'm giving them, or anyone, access to my bank account. (Except my new best friend in Nigeria)

So anyway, I have to go the other route, which is still through paypal, but by entering the amount, my country, name, address, and credit card number, over 4 pages. When I get to then end it says timed out start over.
Now I know I type slowly but after doing it a dozen times I can do it pretty fast. No way it should time out.
Cyclefrance • Sep 10, 2005 12:52 pm
Son isn't looking for money and is quite happy for any donation you intended to give him to go straight to the Katrina fund. Maybe that's the best answer (in the short-term).
marichiko • Sep 10, 2005 1:03 pm
WOW! Great song! Kudos to your son, CycleFrance! I, too, loved the nice flamenco ending, and of course, hearing my name mentioned. Very talented boy you've got there! The Cellar now has its very own anthem. Yea us!

That's cool, but I am concerned it's happening to other people. :eyebrow:

The same thing is happening to me, Bruce. I won't use PayPal anymore because I got a bunch of strange messages from some pseudo-pay pal outfit which has made me distrustful of the entire thing. I tried putting in my info on the other route, too, just to send along my "widow's mite," and I was repeatedly timed out, as well. If there's some alternate way of making a donation, I'd be pleased to do so.

Thanks for that Bruce - funny, I was thinking the more or less same thing myself earlier this evening when out walking the dog (one of those infrequent times you get for mental wandering). He mentioned to me a couple of days back that generally he doesn't get much in the way of donations which, given the feedback he gets, seems odd.

I'll tell him in the morning so he can check out if there is anything that's stopping his Paypal account working properly
Cyclefrance • Sep 17, 2005 8:34 am
For those wanting to use the Paypal facility, JB says he has solved the problem - apparently down to his using frames which somehow messed up the integrity of the link. All fixed he says! You can try it now if you want to
seakdivers • Sep 17, 2005 5:48 pm
Ok - I'm sure it's just me, but I can't find the song! I click on the link and I get to his website, but where do I go to hear the Cellar Song?
seakdivers • Sep 17, 2005 5:50 pm
Oh gads.... sorry - I found it.

Sorry ,he writes songs too fast - Cellar one now a bit down the list. Have a listen to the latest Big man Massouh song (16 Sept) - one of his best, I reckon (a bit of muppet thrown in for good measure as wel!).
