The re-introduction of the expression Ground Zero into our vernacular
gives us pause to reflect on the overwhelming horror of nuclear destruction,
not seen in recent memory.

Welcome to Ground Zero

With the end of the cold war, the greatest nuclear threat comes from our human
tendency to forget more easily that which we haven't experienced personally, and

Thank you Nic. The images taken by Yosuke Yamahata were particularly compelling. That is war. As the number of Afghani civilian casualties surpasses those in America we need to remember its real in New York and its real in Kabul. If you believe that every human life has value you've got to consider our actions very seriously.

I read Hiroshima when I was in the eigth grade. I re-read it every couple of years, just to help me try and get a fix on why it is that we need more responsibility in our government. *sigh* I hate days like this.
