Attractive teachers - underage students
WTF? here's another one. are you telling me that there is not one male, possibly more compatible (i.e. not underage) willing to sleep with these women? and more importantly, where were these teachers when i was a student?
and another one and another one and another one bites the dust...I saw the ex-husband of Deborah LeFave interviewed (if you can call it that) on The View yesterday.
He was saying that there are a lot more cases female teacher-male student sex than are heavily reported on the news, and that there is an "attractiveness" factor (only the cute ones make the news, it seems).
He also discussed the
tapes in conjunction with her attempt at an insanity defense, saying that the content of the tapes made it clear that she knew that what she was doing was wrong.
I do think it presents an unfair double standard when female teachers in these situations get charged with things like "lewdness" and males get charged with Child Abuse ... the levels of power and control are no different when the teacher is female.
Applying my amateur psychology here:
Women with low self-esteem who are tired of being controlled by the males in their lives like the idea of being in the driver's seat, sexually. It's role-reversal, and maybe a little bit of "hey, we're both at our respective sexual peaks, let's make out". I don't really think they do it for the same reason a male abuser does. The male variant is sexually stimulated by the youth and helplessness of the victim, while the woman is attracted to the unbridled horniness of the almost-adults she has control over.
That doesn't make a whole lot of sense, upon further reading. But the point is, I think a male who sleeps with a 15 year old boy is coming from a completely different place than a woman who does the same thing. Doesn't make her any less of a perv, though.
17 is the consentual age? when did this change? i thought it was 18? and i'm with lookout, where the hell were they when i was a student too!?!

There really isn't anything sexy about a teenager. They may have perfect, unmarked bodies but as soon as they open their mouths...YUCK. I usually can't even stand talking to people in their twenties. So...freakin'...clueless! I usually just listen to them in astonished amazement.

No, but I dated a pre-Olympic downhill skier in college. It was like making out with a piece of beef jerky. With steel thighs the size of my waist.
The jazz dancer was alright though :love: Too bad she was looking for a husband (at 19). Freaked me out, never got past 2nd base. In fact, I was a virgin until 22.

Eh, not a lot to tell. He had been doing gymnastics since the age of four I think--had the stunted growth and vicious muscles to prove it--and had been steadily working his way up the ladder to the Olympics (medaling in the "Junior Olympics," and other similar events generally considered to be indicators of future Olympic performance) until the end of junior year, when it came time for the big push to actually try to qualify. He decided he was tired of it, didn't want the stress, so he just stopped. I think he was surprised everyone was so supportive.
After that, he still did 80 casual pushups every morning and night though, just to "stay sorta fit."

There was a rumor that my high-school advisor, who was then about 35 or 36, tagged a senior when he came over to "review his college essays." I'm jealous.

When I was in high school the male teachers were PIGS. One got a girl pregnant and was subsequently fired, lost his teaching certificate and sued by her parents; another was put on administrative leave with pay (wtf is that) until the board of ed could figure things out, he was eventually fired and lost his teaching certificate/privelages. The third was discovered not too long ago when one of the girls (yes that's right 'one of the girls')came forward to press charges and prevent him from doing the same to anyone else....WTF :eek:

Judge says NO to release of nude photos of Debra LaFave
Tampa, Florida - In a Tampa courtroom, a motion for protective order was granted to the attorney for former middle school teacher Debra LaFave.
That means, nude photos that were taken by law enforcement as part of the teacher sex investigation will not be made public.
The state agreed with the defense in this case.
The state also said in light of the fact that they have DNA evidence, they probably won't even use the photos at trial.
But the pictures were one of the first bit of evidence they had.
Recently the attorney for LaFave, John Fitzgibbons, went public with his plea that the photos not be made public.
He says they are "pornographic" in nature. Law enforcement says the photos are standard procedure in this type of investigation.
LaFave is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14 year old boy while a teacher at Greco Middle School.

Maybe the attraction is more psychological than physical. I mean, how many men of age are as capable of being as vulnerable or even as sensitive as these teens? Maybe older women are attracted to the fact that teen boys have less machismo. I dunno, just an opinion.

I think you have explained one important advantage of the older woman/young boy attraction. It's true that a teenage boy has very little to offer, but that is the whole point. He does not bring any BAGGAGE into the relationship either. He does not have ex-wives all over the place, children he can't relate to or is having a problem supporting financially, he is not yet bitter or suspicious or as fixed in so many of his own selfish ways. He has not been "ruined" emotionally, as it were, because he knows so little about his or your emotions at that point. In a strange way, this is refreshing.
I'm not thinking about this in terms of a teacher/student affair, I still can't avoid seeing that as predation, which is and should be illegal. But for consenting partners with no ulterior motives, it can be not-necessarily abnormal. It's even been proposed by some philosophers that men and women should have a 3-stage marriage history. The youngest men will be initiated sexually by the older women of the tribe/country/sect; when they get older these men will marry and form a family with a woman their own age, whom they will then initiate and bond with; later, after the children of this union are launched on their own, the women who have been widowed or are single for whatever reason will be "promoted" into the initiation of a new generation of boys. That way, everybody is always in a role which is most suitable and productive for their time of life, their skills and talents. I don't think this plan is going to find favor in many "civilized" societies any time soon, but it does sort of mirror what is happening in these classrooms. As well as after varsity football games, study halls, choir practices, and anyplace else where people consider the possibilities.
