LEGO FANS

If you are into LEGO bricks, you should go to LEGO Fan and download the new quarterly magazine in PFD format. You can even download in two halves if you have a slow connection
BrickJournal is a quarterly publication that will focus on the Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) community, with articles about:
people - the personalities behind the building
building - the incredible models that have been built
community - the places and events where AFOLs meet

The current issue is Vol 1 - No 1, and 35 pages of interesting stuff. Pages 6 & 7 are the Annual Report of the company that I thought was cool. There is even a section on the history and the involvement of Samsonite in the US distribution.
No, I don't have a life.

Here's something I was inspired to do while reading MetaFilter... A Java demo of how it works is here.

Is that a pantograph made out of Legos?

No, it's a Peaucellier Cell, a linkage that translates rotation (of the arm with the yellow knob) into a straight line (of the rod along the red line).
