I picked up two books from the dollar store to read on vacation.

The Mountain of the Women : Memoirs of an Irish Troubadour

Summary - Irish boy goes to Greenwich Village in the 1950's and 60's before hooking up with rich socialite and becoming part of famous singing group. Hears Dyland and meets Lenny Bruce.

Meet John Trow

Summary - Man going through mid-life crisis joins Civil War reenacters and both helps himself and begins to lose himself in the character he is recreating.

I'm forcing myself to not start these books until my vacation.

I got most of my Niven books from a guy who sold used books on some steps at Carnegie Mellon. He'd pull several carts one at a time from wherever he lived to campus most weekends.

I had to hide from a flock of mental patients (it was go to the dollar store day and I didn't realize they used the one near my house) so I missed out on getting a book that was totally astounding, although I understand why it was in the dollar store.

It was by some chick who channelled Jerry Garcia ...

It's so lame amazon doesn't carry it ...

Damn, I saw that one. I almost picked it up, but even for a dollar I had to consider whether I would ever read it.

I did thumb through it, though. Let me know if you want me to pick it up if I run across it again. I could bring it to Forks.

BTW, I love this part
