wolf • May 6, 2005 1:57 pm

Queen of the Ryche • May 6, 2005 2:25 pm

Thanks for the welcome - Yes, we can own them, but we drive about 300 miles away to use them - we have ATCs and drink Coors Light too! I think we're definitely in the wrong part of the country.......but then I remember I can drive an hour to the beach, the desert, skiing, or Disneyland, so I'm probably staying for a while.

I have never seen Freedorm magazine or similar books. You have given your child a good education.
Clodfobble • May 8, 2005 11:11 pm
Billy, do you know that "Freedom" refers to our right to have guns, the second amendment to our Constitution, and that magazine is for gun enthusiasts?
wolf • May 8, 2005 11:13 pm
America's First Freedom is a magazine published by the National Rifle Association. It contains articles about guns, gun ownership, and personal liberty.

don't worry- she likes Elmo and Dr. Seuss too. (And rides w/ daddy on the ATC.)
SteveDallas • May 9, 2005 2:55 pm
Perhaps she should meet my son.
warch • May 9, 2005 2:58 pm
Ok, who has the tobacco shot! The Trifecta!
Elspode • May 9, 2005 4:01 pm
My kid looked perfectly normal before he started this filthy habit...
York • May 10, 2005 1:10 pm

Elspode • May 10, 2005 1:48 pm

York • May 10, 2005 1:54 pm

Queen of the Ryche • May 24, 2005 3:17 pm
we're taking her fishing in the High Sierras this week - will let you know how that goes (bet I don't get al ot of fishing done, just keeping her out of the water and keeping nightcrawlers out of her mouth.)
wolf • May 24, 2005 4:49 pm
Hooks out of her butt is pretty important too ... but the thickness of the diapers will probably help prevent that.
plthijinx • May 25, 2005 12:33 am
especially if the draws are loaded! :D
plthijinx • May 25, 2005 12:34 am
oh and i commend you on the reading material.....just ask wolf, she knows of my collection! (guns that is)
staceyv • May 25, 2005 9:06 am

I think this is Lumberjim's kid. It was on the memory card of the digital camera he gave me ;)

I'd rather teach her gun safety and respect for them than just keep them away and tell her "guns are bad", because that seems to be the most common cause of curiousity that leads to "I know where my dad hides his guns, wanna see?" All of our gun owning parent friends have taught their children so well that they know guns are not toys, are to be stored properly, are not to be touched except under direct adult supervision - they do not own toy guns - I really respect this methodology.

that is the way i was taught and that is the way i'm teaching my little cellarite. it's the best way i know. it's the only way i know. if i teach him young then he will respect them as i did as a child. it wasn't uncommon for me at 5 years old to go off on my own with the .22 rifle. i was taught well. i was brought up hunting/fishing on the weekends. i shot my first deer at 6 with a marlin 30-30. not too bad for a bean sprout.
York • May 30, 2005 1:01 pm
Over here its pretty easy, guns are illegal(exept for cops and really bad guys) so.....no teaching them!
BigV • May 30, 2005 11:21 pm
I can understand the cops legal possesion of weapons, but why is it legal for the bad guys too? Some seriously displaced sense of balance, parity?
York • May 31, 2005 11:37 am
It was meant to be ironically! Over here no one is allowed to have a weapon exept people with a license for it , like cops....hunters, and people who shoot for sports! Its all very strict! By "bad guys" i meant the robbers and stuff who get it anyway!
Queen of the Ryche • Jun 11, 2005 9:56 am
Well, now that we've got guns implanted in her mind, we've added another important category: fishing! She loved it - couldn't keep her away from the water. (And zero nightcrawler or hook incedents!)
xoxoxoBruce • Jun 11, 2005 11:56 am
I hope that water is warmer than it looks.
Queen of the Ryche • Jun 11, 2005 12:09 pm
She's half Swede - I couldn't keep her out of it - It really wasn't that bad (even though it's pure Sierra Nevada snow melt).
Elspode • Jun 11, 2005 1:46 pm
Ah, Jeez...I've got to get to the mountains soon, or I'm gonna lose it. Going on seven years since I've been to any.
Queen of the Ryche • Jun 11, 2005 3:14 pm
Yeah - people wonder how I can stand living in L.A. but when this, the beach, the desert, the Hollywood Bowl, and Disneyland are all within a stone's throw, I can't imagine living anywhere else.
York • Jun 19, 2005 10:43 am
Euhm, here in Belgium everything seems in a stone's throw....
