lurkers

lumberjim • Apr 14, 2005 9:24 pm
most....well, many of you know how i feel about lurkers. I think they're a little creepy. but now i have two RL friends that read regularly ( or so they say) that have both registered and neither of them has posted a peep.

so, should i OUT them? or let them lurk. they're both really funny, btw. you;d like them. they're just shy.

i'm torn.
glatt • Apr 14, 2005 9:33 pm
I don't get it. Why be shy?

Actually, it's easy for me to say, I don't know any of you in the real world. I might act differently here if people I knew came here. Not post differently stuff, but post less frequently.
breakingnews • Apr 14, 2005 10:28 pm
Completely true. I hesitate to tell people about the cellar, except for my closet Web nerd friends who dick around on forums of their own. It's odd - one of my better friends and I have shared web sites, but our tastes in forums don't really mesh.

I say out them, but that's your call. I probably wouldn't myself, though.

Did I see someone on here from Lville, NJ?
BigV • Apr 14, 2005 11:34 pm
sure, out them.

then, they get welcomed, yay, like the plunge into the cold pool. y'jus can't do it sloooww.

Or.

They hate being outed, and never post and then make OTHER usernames, don't tell you anyway and your "outing" fizzles.

Acutally, until they post, what's the point? I mean, I could look at the members list, and say, hey, this one and that one, they're LJs friends... woo hoo. With no posts...

let'em lurk.
Bullitt • Apr 15, 2005 1:38 am
I'll admit I'm somewhat of a lurker. But its really only because I'm not old enough to have the life experiences the most of the rest of you have had to speak intelligently on most the matters discussed int he forums. So i pretty much stick to talking about things I actually know something about.
wolf • Apr 15, 2005 1:56 am
We don't have much life experience or intelligence in matters discussed either, but that doesn't stop anyone.
wolf • Apr 15, 2005 1:56 am
Let LJ's buds lurk in peace. He's the only one who's freaked out by it. I, for one, like him off balance.
xoxoxoBruce • Apr 15, 2005 7:45 am
Drop in the bucket...for every one Jim knows there's a thousand more he doesn't. Bwahahahahaha. :comfort:
breakingnews • Apr 15, 2005 9:34 am
I wonder what his reaction would be (or anyone else here) if I dropped in IRL and asked for "lumberjim."

"Who?"

Me: "Oh, he'll know. Just yell it really loud."

LJ: "Who's there?"

Me: "COCK!"

What are you doing there? I went to high school there ... grew up just next door in princeton.
Pie • Apr 15, 2005 2:34 pm
Uh, I live here. I went to grades 1-2 in L'ville, then middle and high school in Princeton. I came back to Princeton after college for grad school; then settled in L'ville because it's cheaper than Princeton.

Out, 'em, LJ. In fact, if you have any compromising photos of them, out them by posting the pics. Great icebreaker.

I guess outing them is pointless. Just calling them out, I guess. And the rest of you lurkers, too. I'm a little bored with the current active posters. No offense meant to anyone in particular, now that a certain blathering drip and a particular high and mighty self proclaimed pillar of the cellar ( who for some inexplicable reason decided to hitch his wagon to the aforementioned drip) have....left........(and i only except them because i definitely would have taken this opportunity to take a shot at one or both of them) I generally like all of you......

Maybe it's just the subject matter, or something else, but it just seems stale. I think some new peeps are needed. And at least 2 normal ones per looney. Although, the looney would probably help a lot. I love a good looney. Like spivey. or rich3421341.

wolf, do any of your inmates have internet access at home?
ashke • Apr 15, 2005 9:11 pm
ORDER ACTIVE MEMBERS NOW! FOR EVERY TWO NORMAL ONES YOU GET A LOONEY FREE!

Oh cool - I did Lville elementary, then Riverside, then PDS, then PHS, then Lville (the snobby one), then Emory, now in NYC. Anyway, hi, neighbor.

As you wish.

1. Ernest Borgnine, Michael Keaton, Brad Pitt: Screw one, sue one, marry one. Choose
2. Fork in the road: Next 20 miles - no gas, free pot, no cops, lots of bikers and no turning back orrrrrr lots of cops, lots of gas, 5-star hotels, shoe stores and an Oprah book signing. Choose.
3. Fork on the left, the right or just left of the breastbone.
4. Hollow points or mercury-filled hollow points?
5. What month did you file your taxes? If April, what day?
6. Number of times you shouted out the wrong name.
7. One island, one raft for one person, two people. For whom do you pray?

Is it time for you to leave, grasshopper? Or is the teacher the student?

Uhhhh, not that kind of asylum, THIS kind. Except without windows.

Now, if you are asking if the Cellar is the asylum or if it is an asylum from the asylum then I cannot help you. Image

Now if you'll excuse me, I have Nostrodamus holding on line zero.

Nice picture. That is classic state hospital brickwork.
kerosene • Apr 18, 2005 5:35 pm
I remember that kind of brick in my high school. It had a funny subdued mint color to it. The floor matched too.
xoxoxoBruce • Apr 18, 2005 5:42 pm
We had that kind of tile (brick if you will) in elementary school. Late 40s/early 50s if you must know.
