Happy Easter

To those of you who celebrate it, happy Easter.
wolf • Mar 27, 2005 3:03 pm
To those of us who don't ... enjoy the chocolate anyway.

(For me this is the most paganized of the christian holidays ... there were no bunnies and chickies at the resurrection, after all.)
Carnivean • Mar 27, 2005 4:10 pm
Well, there could have been. :D

Happy Easter.

Since I'm visiting a friend right now, we ended up going to her boyfriend's Catholic Easter mass, which was a novel experience for me. Way different from the Protestant services I've been to.

Actually, I was struck by the marked similarity between the Catholic mass and the Jewish Yom Kippur services I've attended. All in all, an educational day.

Show me a Christian holiday that ISN'T a rip-off of the pagan.
wolf • Mar 28, 2005 2:27 am
I'm sure one of the really obscure ones ...

I don't think the church ripped off the summer holidays too much ... Litha, Lammas, and Mabon go pretty much unnoticed.

My intelligence suggests, on that topic, they are only fools, these Pagans are paying their dues. For definition of "fool" send private message.

wolf • Mar 29, 2005 2:20 pm
no no no ... not SAM-HANE.

pronounciation: /sow-WEN/ (that's "sow" like a female pig, not "sow" like throwing seeds into a field)

Celtic New Year.

Yeah...even by a lot of Pagans.

We have a big frolic for each of the eight sabbats, though. I might get tired of it someday...lots of work.
wolf • Mar 29, 2005 2:29 pm
Mid Atlantic States Big Fuckfest occurs around Litha. It has a formal name. I don't remember what it is. But pagans who don't engage in polyamory pretty much stay away from it.

same spelling and i think that is where he borrowed the term from. and i'll have you know that i DO pronounce it correctly. not bad for a little christian boy, eh?
wolf • Mar 29, 2005 2:58 pm
Yes, that's where the name comes from. Sam Hain was also the villain on Ghostbusters the Cartoon one time ... the giant scarecrow with the pumpkin head ...

Okay. Maybe I shouldn't admit that I know that ...
lookout123 • Mar 29, 2005 5:14 pm
 Whooooaaaaa. how do you know stuff like that? my wife rips on me for being a repository of useless information, but you having taken this to a new heights.

I've only ever been beaten once in trivial pursuit, and I played it a lot before my friends started refusing to play with me. I have the set of gold-plated, enameled pies and wedges.

I'm good at pretty much everything, except sports. I always hope for a leisure question when SL comes up as the category.

Trivia is a hobby.

I coulda taken Ken Jennings DOWN.

my cousin was completely baked in his youth when we played the board game. he answered "jimmy Hendrix" to every single question one night. it really pissed everyone off, but he was amused. we found it downright hilarious that he left the room and we skipped his turn. the very next question - the one that he would have been asked... the answer really was "jimmy hendrix".

My sister does that with 'Casablanca'...it actually comes up fairly often too.
