"Gamecocks", another one of those words that sounds dirty but it isn't. xoB finds yet another WaPo picture just like the one last week of the sheep - but this time it's, well, COCKS.

And interestingly this time it's not so absolutely perfectly composed, and it's about to be much more violent and cruel. But it speaks as a photo anyway, catching the birds in the air like that.

Well, they're not chicken, anyway. :)
I don't see any razors attached to their feet like they do here.

Toto, I don't think we're in South Carolina anymore!

Are the razors attatched to the feet more cruel or less cruel? (worse injuries vs quicker death)

Another gamecock fight in South Carolina. The gamecock is the one on the ground.

here's one on a "tie cord"
these fowl WILL fight to the death, with or without artificial "heels", ie gaffs , knives, etc...........
with weapons: 10 sec. to 2 hrs.
without : maybe days...........this is a very ancient "sport".

Here in parts of the south it can be quite profitable, from what my friends tell me. The thing I like about Gamecocks, is when each year the Ga. Bulldogs pound hell out of them in football. No that was not a player from Ga. doing that stomping. That was some of his kin folk from clemson south Carolina........
Good image though. I despise clemson as bad as I do the u of S.C......

I'd bet if this was legal in cultures with cable you'd find it on cable.

ESPN2. I'm sure I saw it in between the He-Man Challenge and the Lumberjack Competition.

Do they still show Curling?
