That is just too bizarre. :eek: That had to be a tough call to kill off the second head, I mean it was fully developed and functioning.

So, uh, is the second head really another person?

I'll add my vote for this as the creepiest IotD to date.

I hope the little girl does well.

But she had some great career choices available to her ... school nurse or President of the Galaxy.

The human machine, when it malfunctions, can produce some pretty mind-numbingly awful results.

How marvelous that medical science can give an unfortunate child and parents some hope of a better life.

I cannot imagine that this hasn't happened at some point in history. Circus sideshow would of been this childs future if in fact she would even have a chance at all after a home birth somewhere.

I think they had determined that besides the blinking and smiling, there was no real brain activity going on in the second head.

Two heads are bett.....Aw, forget it.
That "second head" was no different than a wart, a mole, just a growth.......that blinked and smiled. :unsure:

Yes, but by that standard, it's alive according to Jeb Bush. I can just imagine the Florida legislature trying to deal with that.

Hey, how easily could this morph back into the abortion discussion?

It was clearly human and alive, and it may even have had potential until they killed it and removed it with a surgical procedure.

Very easily, that's why I made the comparison. It's not just about abortion though. The only difference between this and the Schiavo case is that a young girl's life is directly affected by the decision.

The little girl looks like she's rather fond of that other head, doesn't she? Nature is a creepy thing. I remember a guy in China who had two faces-kind of like this girl but without the pronounced "other" head. He had another set of eyes, another nose and a mouth with teeth that could smile and chew food. Was unbelievably weird. I don't know if he had corrective surgery or not.
