Cellar field of 64
http://cellar.org/fieldof64/blank64.php
General idea: a "tournament" of "stuff"
Concept: we nominate 64 "teams" in a category. Then they are entered into the brackets, according to someone's seeding (we can refine that later). Each "game" is played as one of us deciding the winner, possibly listing a reason. The championship goes up to a vote of some sort.
Example: say the category is "breakfast cereals". We nominate them until we have 64. We seed them into the brackets. The top seeds are Cheerios, Raisin Bran, Corn Flakes, and in a seeding oddity, Capn Crunch. Cheerios, as a first seed, goes up against Kellogg's All-Bran as a 16th seed.
Then there is a first round of games. Either you go and visit the page, and your selection is made, or someone "operates" the game as a thread, and posts "Cheerios versus Kellogg's All Bran." Beestie, the next to visit the thread, posts "Cheerios" and then a single line of why: "The basic O, goes with anything. In fact I'm giving my O-face right now." Then I return and post "Frosted Flakes (2) vs Cookie Crisp (15)" and Russotto comes in and posts "Cookie Crisp" and "I don't eat either of them, but I'd rather have cookies than flakes."
The brackets are updated, then there is a second round and so forth.
I was thinking it would work better automated, but maybe someone has a better idea? Does any of this make sense?
I'd like to see a Cellar awards. "Funniest", "Most Obnoxious", "Most Inflammatory", "Smartest", "Most Sensual", "Craziest", "Most Longwinded", etc.
We can call it "The Toadies".
soundsinteresting. i like rich's ideas for contests.
The local newspaper did something very similar awhile back. They did it with movies, books and recordings. It was kind of fun.
Let's try it then. This is going to be a little US-centric, but anyway... nominate breakfast cereals.
Cheerios
Frosted Flakes
Kellogg's All-Bran
Capn Crunch
Corn Flakes
Cookie Crisp
Raisin Bran
Raisin Nut Bran
Grape-Nuts
do honey nut cheerios fall under the Cheerios umbrella?
and honeycombs
The old Steve & Mike Show on WIP used to do this.. was always entertaining on a slow day.
I would have to nominate Cap'n Crunch Crunchberries (definitely not the same as the plain Cap'n Crunch).
Also Frosted Mini-Wheats, Rice Krispies, and Fruity Pebbles.
(I would move that any cereal containing marshmallow bits should be put to the torch rather than nominated, but I'm sure somebody will stand up to defend them.)
Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Marshmallow Mateys (Generic brand, at least twice as many marshmallows as Lucky Charms)
mmmmmm, dehydrated marshmallows. I used to eat up all the crunchy (boring) bits of cereal just as fast as I could, so that I could eat all the marshmallows at once. If I was juuuust gluttonous enough, they would still be a little Styrofoam-esque by then. :D
I'm gonna nominate Corn Pops and Fruity Pebbles since they're the only gluten-free ones I can ever find that don't cost astronomical amounts of money for a smaller-than-standard-sized box, and therefore are always in my house.
Grapenuts
Quisp
Banana Nut Crunch
Oatmeal, preferably slow cooked and made with steel cut oats. The Best!
SD, where do you think I got the ide--- I mean, I simply had no idea! :)
Reese's Puffs (they taste better than you think they might)
Quaker 100% Natural
there also used to be this stuff called Almond Delight that I can't find anymore, but was dern good.
I would also like to nominate Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs. They're "crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and they don't have a single natural ingredient or essential vitamin to get in the way of that rich, fudgy taste." I miss C&H.
Lucky Charms!
mmmmm....magically delicious!
Silly Wabbits! TRIX!
(do they still make those?)
Frosted MiniWheats are BOSS!
Alpha-Bits
Count Chocula
Sugar Pops (although I think they call them "Corn Pops" now to make them seem healthier)
Fruit Loops
Sugar Smacks (another renamed cereal, I believe. What are they now? Honey Smacks? Golden Smacks? Puffed Wheat coated in carmelized sugar)
Cocoa Puffs
Total
Wheaties. Oh how could we forget the joy of Wheaties!
Oh, for the days where you bought the cereal for the toy inside rather than the fiber content! I just got BOTH. Big boxes of Cheerios have Shark Tales video games in 'em!!!!!!! Don't have to save no boxtops. Good prizes in cereal and in Cracker Jacks are another reason to hate liability attorneys.
I'm with Clod, Crispix is what I eat.
Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds
Rice Crispies
Rice Chex
Shreaded Wheat
Kashi (go lean)
Reese's Puffs (they taste better than you think they might)
Given how I think they might taste . . . . they would almost
have to.
So is everyone just listing their favorites? Or is there some game we are supposed to be doing?
Wheaties rule.
Just keep nominating cereals, and everything will become clear in time!
rice krispie treat cereal (OMG yum)
corn chex
shredded wheat
mini shredded wheat
LIFE reg and cinnamon (great as a snack w/o milk)
Oh's
frosted flakes (did I miss this ?)
multi grain cheerios (slightly sweetened yumminess)
mini chex (heavily sweetened goodness that i can't find anymore)
fruit loops
golden grahams
Balance hot cereal (yum)
Cream of wheat regular, maple, chocolate hot cereal
I have a minimum of 6 boxes of cereal at all times in my house, I love it. Usually have it for dinner when i don't feel like cooking...
Whole Foods brand Oat Flakes
Peanutbutter Bumpers
oh yeah, cap'n crunch peanut butter
can't believe i forgot that. great mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with coco puffs. like a crunchy reeses PB cup.
Oh's
I'm not familiar with these.. do they come in a "big" size?
I tend to eat the low sugar cereals like Cheerios and Rice Krispies, but I will also buy childhood faves like the (three remaining) monster cereals, Froot Loops, uh, um, Corn Pops, Honey Smacks, Rice Chex, Kix, Waffle-Os, Cap'n Crunch (all varieties), Lucky CHarms and others I forget right now. I'll post when I go food shopping again. I normally buy ten or twelve boxes at once.
Brian
Raisin Bran
Corn Chex
Grape Nuts
But none are as good as BACON :yum:
I used to love Puffa puffa rice, but I don't think it's still out there.
Honey nut cornflakes.
Sugar puffs.
Checked my cabinet last night, found a Honey Nut Chex i forgot to mention. Also excellent for snacking right out of the box. I've just seen Oh's in a regular size box, if that's what you meant SD. They are slightly bigger than a cheerio, and the hole is filled with some of crunchy stuff. Sweet grahamy type taste. I think there are a few flavors, but the original is my fav. We need to discuss cereals in the food thread...
How many are we up to, UT? Surely we must be close to 64 by now...
People have a lot of duplicates, which is cool, we just need 4 more nominations.
apple cinnamon cheerio's ( now extinct i think)
Anyone old enough to remember Ralston? All Bran? Wheatena? And some people make grits and serve them with butter as a cereal. Should be 64...
Nominations are closed. Now wait a sec for the next step...
Now check out this link (pops new window):
http://cellar.org/fieldof64/cereal.php
Is that clear? Now, the next step is the games. This is going to take a while in the thread... but let's try it. I'll automate it if it seems useful and fun.
Next person to the thread answers:
Do you prefer Cheerios, or C3PO's?
King Vitamin!
(doh! Too Late!)
I've just seen Oh's in a regular size box, if that's what you meant SD.
Ummm, it was a lame joke... big O's ...............
[cricket chirp]
never mind
Cheerios!!
Fruity Pebbles or Mini Chex?
If I stay on all day this'll go fast.
Kix or Honey Nut Cornflakes?
All day??? You surely don't intend to sleep tonight do you?
The first upset has occurred!
Life, or grits
Cocoa Puffs, or Raisin Nut Bran?
Raisin Nut Bran!
i don't know if having the cereal games means we all have too much time on our hands or not, but UT, thanks again for providing a fun place for us to congregate.
OATMEAL! oh sorry. I guess I got carried away.
Trix, or Cream of Wheat maple?
I'm looking out for you, l123. Actually this one has been bubbling under my brain since... well, since they first did it on the radio about 6 years ago.
OATMEAL! oh sorry. I guess I got carried away.
Brrrrt Foul! Five yards, jump ball and 2 minutes in the box.
Or are you cheering for a favorite to make it out of the East?
I have no idea whats going on. Now I'm in the box. I'm flashing back to gym class.
cream of wheat maple.... good stuff!
Oatmeal, or Almond Delight?
Griff, covering for warch, who's in the box.
Heh, so much for Almond Delights powerplay.
First round East is complete. Clearly the games have to be automated. I'm thinking about it.
http://cellar.org/fieldof64/cereal.php
Wheaties, or Peanutbutter Bumpers?
Wheaties. Breakfast of champions.
Never even heard of Peanutbutter Bumpers.
Here UT, watch me automate it:
Corn Pops, or Waffle-O's?
Corn Pops!!
...next...
Well THAT works! Thank you!
shredded wheat or reeses puffs?
Shredded Wheat!
Frosted miniwheats or whole foods oat flakes
Frosted miniwheats.
In a blowout.
They fit just right on the spoon, after all!
(wow. this is more exciting than it seems. I'm quite interested to see what happens in the much talked about corn chex/rice chex matchup. They have been long time rivals and there's a lot of bragging rights riding on that game!)
I will be most interested to see how this turns out - whether candy cereals (Fruit Loops, etc.) beat out healthy fiber-rich, whole grain varieties (Wheatena, Ralston, Oatmeal, etc.) I see Wheatena and Fruit Loops as a match. Anyone interested in suggesting odds?
Clearly the games have to be automated.
Automated? Pfft. Just outsource it to somewhere in the Eastern Hemisphere.
Nobody play any more games until I fix the seeding, which I messed up. This is why this is a beta test.
Ok, it's fixed. I didn't have it set up properly... the first seed is supposed to meet the second seed at the end of the bracket, not the second round...
Next game is Cinnamon Toast Crunch vs Cap'n Crunch Peanut Butter.
I too await the battle of the Chexes. This was an unintentional matching on behalf of the tournament committee.
http://cellar.org/fieldof64/cereal.phpRice Krispies v. Multigrain Cheerios
Rice Krispies
The automation didn't take.
Cap'n Crunch CrunchBerries, or Cookie Crisp?
Crunchberries by a landslide! (cookie crisp is just plain wrong!)
Corn Chex v. Rice Chex
The Corn Chex are definitely scrappers, hold their milk well and have been training hard all season. Both contenders have shown their versatility by taking part in the Chex Mix in interleague play and well display their ability to stand up to Worcestershire Sauce. But how much of this is actually due to the critical addition of the Wheat Chex??
Ahhhh ... the tension is just too high! The decision must be made!!
rice chex
Froot Loops, or Wheatena?
The South ends its round one with only one upset, the resoundly-winning rice chex.
I keep posting the URL partly because it's convenient and partly because I'm proud of how I worked out how to set up the tables to create dynamic brackets. Automating this is not as simple a matter as it seems at first.
http://cellar.org/fieldof64/cereal.php
We have to figure out how to do the final four, because it wouldn't be right just to have one person decide those games.
Kellogg's All-Bran, or Kashi Go-Lean?
All-Bran, with extra colon scrubbing power.
Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, or Ralston?
I have never heard of Ralston. Quite a dark horse.
Total, or Rice Krispie Treats?
uhhh, Crispix. Never even heard of Quisp.
No playing twice in a row, that's not fair.
Ralston is a cooked ceral - made from wheat - very tasty. It's like a tastier wheatena if you have ever had that.
Quisp!
Doesn't Ralston also make Purina dog food? :yelsick:
Lucky Charms, or Sugar Puffs?
The East is done... first round is eight games from over.
http://cellar.org/fieldof64/cereal.php
Frosted Flakes, or Boo Berry?
Holy hyperactive-hyperglycemic-8-year-old, Batman!
Vegas has caught wind of our little contest and posted Lucky Charms as a 5:6 favorite! How long before Big Dom and Rocco the Knife take a steel bar to Tony's knees to uh.. [Robert DeNiro]even things out a li'l bit.[/DeNiro]
Tony the Tiger, that is. nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.
:biggrinje
Grape-Nuts, or Golden Grahams?
Grape-Nuts!
Hickory Nuts can be delicious! (I met Euell Gibbons many years ago, during a class trip, probably 6th grade, to Annapolis, Maryland. He was quite gracious about signing autographs for a bunch of 12 year olds while he was on vacation.)
Golden Grahams are just yucky. Too damn sweet. Actually I usually love sweet cereals, so maybe their problem is that they premiered after I was too old to accept new sugary cereals into my life
Banana Nut Crunch, or Count Chocula?
Cap'n Crunch, or Honey Bunches of Oats w/Almonds?
Honey Smacks, or Cinnamon Life?
Corn Flakes, or Cream of Wheat chocolate?
Corn Flakes!
Cream of Wheat Chocolate is just wrong
Cream of Wheat, or Honey Nut Chex?
tough, but i have to go with HNChex, for the portability factor...
Raisin Bran, or Marshmallow Mateys?
raisin bran. gotta love having 2 scoops in every box.
Huzzah! Round one is done, which also means over half the games have been played.
http://cellar.org/fieldof64/cereal.php
The biggest upset was upstart Honey Nut Cornflakes (14) beating Kix (3). Kix was mentioned more than once during the nominations, and seemed to have a spirit behind it, but you never know what the field of 64 will expose. Sometimes there are weaknesses in the highly ranked teams.
I was pleased to see my personal underdog fav, Raisin Nut Bran (12), make it to the second round. It's underrated! But we all have our favorites. On to the second round then.
Cheerios, or Oatmeal?
Cheerios!
(Oatmeal may be better for you, but Cheerios are the Perfect Food™.)
Raisin Nut Bran, or Life?
Alpha-Bits, or Honey-Nut Cornflakes?
Cream of Wheat maple, or Fruity Pebbles?
honey nut cornflakes
cream of wheat maple
(what ever happened to multi-grain cheerios anyway?... loved that stuff!)
Given that Lookout already gave the victory to AlphaBits, I am for the moment not going to call a foul on the play for cowhead's call of Cream of Wheat Maple as an attempt to pick two in a row ...
But man, what an upset! Fruity Pebbles lost to somehing as awful looking and tasting as cream of wheat maple??
Agreed! It looks like Cheerios will now have clear sailing through the North...
but anything can happen!
http://cellar.org/fieldof64/cereal.php
Wheaties, or Cinnamon Toast Crunch?
Rice Krispies, or Frosted Mini-Wheats?
Rice Krispies, hard to make marshmallow treats out of mini wheats.
While I'm thinking of it ... we should probably figure out how we're going to deal with the crucial semi final and final rounds here ... So much is at stake for all of these fine cereals that have worked and trained so hard all season ...
Not terribly well thought out proposal: Should the semis and finals be determined not by a single call of winner in the matchup, but through the means of a vote by PM? That way some of the dramatic tension of the real end of march madness will be sustained.
Voting should, though, include more than just a call for a particular cereal ... votes should come with justification. The ref (UT) makes the final determination as to whether an additional vote goes to a team for originality or humor or whatever ... the winner, as we all know, is not always the top seed. There are some amazing upsets that occur in sports.
To account for schedules and time zones, voting should remain open for at least 24 hrs ... do the semis one day, and the finals the next.
Oh, additional vote for originality, that is a heavy burden of responsibility. Maybe the automation should include a "sponsor" who runs the tournament and makes that decision.
Cap'n Crunch CrunchBerries or Shredded Wheat?
me likes the Cap'n
How can you like Crunchberries? They are a spin-off. They are the
Joanie Loves Chachi of the cereal world. Shredded Wheat is an original, baby.
Cap'n Crunch CrunchBerries or Shredded Wheat?
In other interesting matchups, the New England Patriots are set to take on the University of North Minnetonka in what figgers to be a classic battle ...or something.

How can you like Crunchberries? They are a a spin-off. They are the Joanie Loves Chachi of the cereal world. Shredded Wheat is an original, baby.
so you are saying that you didn't like Joanie Loves Chachi? Does that mean you didn't like Melrose Place, Laverne and Shirley, and now Joey???
Froot Loops, or Kellogg's All-Bran?
I know what I should say, cuz it's better for yah, but baby, I loves Toucan Sam and the Froot Loops.
Apple Jacks, or Mini Shredded Wheat?
Ralston, or Total? (after this answer I'll break a while to let the nighttime (us) people back in)
I'm nervous for my Wheaties. Rice Crispies is going to be thier first real challange. It's obvious to me who should win, but you never know what Fate has in store. Come on Wheaties, you can do it! Three little elves can't hold a wooden spoon to the scores of world-class atheletes that have represented you.
Go Wheaties!
Can you make treats out of marshmallows and Wheaties? I don't think so.... you're going' down! :thumbsdn:
Oh man! I nominated Lucky Charms and yet I voted for Quisp over Crispix. What a quagmire! :(
How the hell is one to vote on this?
How the hell is one to vote on this?
You have to be the first one to answer when UT asks which of two should win. Just watch this thread.
Oh man! I nominated Lucky Charms and yet I voted for Quisp over Crispix. What a quagmire!
You reap what you sow! I was devastated to see my beloved Crispix knocked out in the first round. I already fired the coach.
And my oatmeal, which was gaining a following was up against the heavily favored Cheerios.
I heard the referees were bought Kat. No way does steel cut fall to ground and toasted... no way. :(
So, who wants bacon butties?
Frosted Flakes, or Grape-Nuts?
frosted flakes, if you please
Count Chocula, or Cap'n Crunch?
Count Chocula!
but only because it's regular cap'n crunch and not crunch BERRIES, which are far superior.
Cinnamon Life, or Corn Flakes?
Honey Nut Chex, or Raisin Bran?
This game's goin' into overtime! Oh my gods the excitement in the crowd!!! We've never seen anything like this in the world of competitive cereal before!
(what can I say? I dislike both equally.)
Raisin Bran.
I've decided to make it my new favorite, and have "spoken" to the ref.
The second round is done.
http://cellar.org/fieldof64/cereal.php
Cheerios, or Life?
Alpha-Bits, or Cream of Wheat maple?
Alpha-Bits
Pretty much anything is cooler that flavored gruel. But I really do love Alpha-Bits.
Damn, that's a toughie.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Alpha-Bits are faster and, therefore, score higher on the "instant-gratification" scale. Gotta go with Alpha-Bits. Nutritional comparisons are not valid since its all about taste so I conveniently overlook Cream of Wheat's obvious life-extending benefits.
More Alpha-Bits, please!
Well that validates the result.
Big game here: Wheaties, or Rice Krispies?
that's a toughie, the crowd is going wild for alpha-bits (and! you get to brush up on your words at the same time!) although I gotta go with cream-o-wheat (hell! maple or anyother variety!) as the win in the end last second three point shot underdog!
well alpha-bits and cheerios huh? my money is on cheerios! I mean they are cheery and all!
Cap'n Crunch CrunchBerries, or Rice Chex?
Froot Loops, or Apple Jacks?
Quisp
He's a hardy little fellow, even had to go so far as to claw his way out of the grave. Turns out he wasn't dead, just in suspended animation.
You can't keep a good alien down.
Frosted Flakes, or Count Chocula?
Cinnamon Life, or Raisin Bran?
A little of column A, a little of column B.
Makes the world go round.
http://cellar.org/fieldof64/cereal.php
It's the Elite Eight!
Some Cinderella stories here. And a 1-2 matchup worthy of the final. Some think Alpha-Bits is a contender, but I ask you, who have they beaten? The South was a stronger category where even Rice Chex, the 10th seed, seems like it belongs in the Eight.
Wheaties of course. I mean it's the breakfast of champions, right?
Apple Jacks or what???
Apple Jacks.
Oh, the humanity! The hardy little alien of my childhood has fallen to one of his sugary brothers, with a catchier jingle, but no cute mascot!
Frosted Flakes, or Raisin Bran?
Yayy!!!
Go Tony!!
They'rrrrrre Grrrrreat!
It's the Final Four!!!!
I didn't get the automation built in time, so let's go with Wolf's Rules of Order here.
Cheerios, or Wheaties?
Apple Jacks, or Frosted Flakes?
Send me a Private Message with your choice for both of these two games. Voting on the semi-final ends at 11:59 PM tonight, 2/14/2005. I'm not going to add an extra vote for good reasons because I can't take the heavy responsibility of adding an additional point. You may argue for your own personal choices in this thread. Good luck... and may the best cereal win.
As befits the Final Four, we have some very strong contenders and two tough choices. This one will require some thought.
Has anyone had Wheaties lately? I had them this morning. They are delicious! They are good for you. They are all-American. They are an original. Vote for Wheaties. Tell your friends. I won't say anything negative about Cheerios. How could I? But they are no Wheaties.
And in the other game, well, they are both good. But I voted for Tony the Tiger. I have nothing but fond memories for Frosted Flakes, even if they are too sweet for this 37 year old today.
Cheerios...Donut seeds...Classic. Happy. Floaty. Os. Tuggin at your oat healthy heart.
Cheerios and Frosted Flakes. Just cuz.
Interesting how the final four came out though. If the two flake-type cereals competed against each other, and the two kibble(?) ones against each other, I'm not sure if my vote would've been the same.
Such a matchup would not have changed my choices.
http://cellar.org/fieldof64/cereal.php
Your semi-final scores are in
North-South game: Cheerios 8 Wheaties 1
East-West game: Frosted Flakes 6 Apple Jacks 2
And now your field of 64 FINAL.
Cheerios, or Frosted Flakes?
Send me a Private Message with your choice. Don't be shy, it's just a little message. Voting on the semi-final ends at 11:59 PM tonight, 2/15/2005. Good luck... and may the best cereal win.
I'm not even going to ask why there were 9 votes for one and 8 for the other.
And yet you desire the answer.
Nope. I slept well last night without the answer and I will again tonight. Even two or three years ago I would have wanted the answer. I have now come to a place in my life where, really, on almost any question, I'm usually better off not knowing.
What I desire is . . .
well, never mind.
Cheerios v. FFs
Now that's a battle. I'm actually going to think about that one for a while.
What I desire is . . .
Cheerios ;)
And the winner is...Cheerios
By a 6-1 margin
Thanks to all who participated!
Final brackets:
http://cellar.org/fieldof64/cereal.php
should we do another one? i could automate the nominations and the votes.
Wow, was I really the only one who voted for Frosted Flakes? That's surprising.
Yeah, let's do another one. I have no idea what subject.
TV sitcoms?
Yeah, let's do another one. I have no idea what subject.
TV sitcoms?
Lookout123, here's your chance. You can nominate
Joanie Loves Chachi. ;)
actors/tresses
cars
websites other than cellar.org
countries of the world
cities of the world
historical figures
world landmarks
movies
books
beverages
elements of the periodic table
A vote for beverages, continuing with the theme of consumables.
How about animals?
i say cities of the world or historical figures.
historical figures. But they should compete based on some arbitrary thing that has nothing to do with what they're known for. Like best hair or something.
Please: something that won't degenerate into a "my ______ is better than yours" fight. We get an earful of that in the other threads.
The cereal thing was good.
I think (SD's idea of) sitcoms would be an excellent choice - there are so many good ones to nominate.
My Cheerios are better than your Frosted FLakes! NYAH NYAH NYAH! :D
I think (SD's idea of) sitcoms would be an excellent choice - there are so many good ones to nominate.
What television have you been watching??? Sure, maybe a half dozen, but 64??? We could almost run a backwards field of 64 to determine the WORST. (I think I know
what my #1 seed is.)
There may have been 64 in the history of sitcoms, including British ones.
What television have you been watching???...
Not much lately. I'm old school...
I like the beverage idea, and nominate human body parts as a topic (ooh, that'll get 'em going :))
Oh, and instead of sitcoms, maybe stars of sitcoms? Homer, Hawkeye Peirce, Andy, Chrissy etc.
Oh, and instead of sitcoms, maybe stars of sitcoms?
That is a great idea.
oohoohooh ! i like it! let's go for sitcom stars next. this has to be something that we care enough about to participate, but not to the point that this becomes another argument thread.
I was kinda hoping for something less culture-bound so the rest of the world could play? Or is that an impossible goal.
hmmm. don't they have satellites? all that means is that david hasselhoff would take an early lead as our global friends weighed in.
weren't all the cereals US based??
nominate human body parts as a topic (ooh, that'll get 'em going :))
Were you thinking of using different parts of the human body, or comparing the same specific body part as manifested on different people?
Different parts of 1 body. leg vs. arm; liver vs spleen; eye vs nose etc. End result would be the most 'valuable' body part i guess. Hopefully it wouldn't end up being P vs. V, but with this group... Or, we could compare a specific part of different people. biggest/smallest or best/worst nose, lips, legs etc. Kind of hard to come up with topics that have at least 64 different things that could be compared.
What about snack foods? potato chips vs. doritos; Ho-Ho's vs. Swiss Cake Rolls?
I enjoyed this cereal battle a little too much. Next we could do... beers, candy bars, candy in general, countries, animals, constellations, movies, and I do like the sitcom idea, but we could broaden it to all tv shows?
I like the countries idea, but wonder how it would work as we get close to the final. Obviously, the USA would win most votes, since this board is based in PA.
If you couldn't vote for your own country (honor system) the USA would lose, so that wouldn't be fair either.
Sitcom/TV characters would be a good topic.
If we had all types of TV characters, you could end up with Les Nesman v. Andy Taylor.
Labrat, there were non-US cereals but they didn't go anywhere... some major brands are identical in other countries... I dunno.
comic book heroes (superman v batman)
comic book villians
Hey, villians in general, historical and/or fictional
movie monsters (alien v predator v the thing) /shivers/
OK, OK, OK, enough dilly dallying around. how about board games???
checkers, chutes and ladders, scrabble, fox and hounds, sorry, parcheesi, monopoly, mah jong (sp?), monopoly, risk, connect four (not tecnically a BOARD game), battleship (nope, not that one either, but still fun as hell), memory (yeah, yeah no board either), chess, backgammon, candyland, (much better)...
OR, just games in gereral. everyone in the world, rich or poor, english speaking or not has some kind of game they can play at a kitchen table. so, is that ok? UT, I guess i just assumed that the few cereals I hadn't heard of were just US ones i had't heard of b/c i don't shop at organic/wholefoods stores. i wasn't trying to be an asshat. :) sorry.
:( did we give up on this?
No no, I was just hoping to create a nomination tool before we started the next round.
huhhuhhuh - tony said "tool"
The only thing sadder than your comment, lookout, is that I was considering saying it myself before I clicked through to the next page and saw you had beaten me to it.
And why should I have to create a tool, when there are so many on the system already. :typing:
:( did we give up on this?
Seconded!
