I'm just trying to figure out the expression on the face of the GI.

Because the Big Red 1 has a sense of humor. :p

HAHAHA I love it! Thats a great sense of humor that those soldiers have. It's good to see positive images from overseas :) Thank you!

I think that weather rock has, perhaps, a slightly more accurate windspeed feature than this one.

He's thinking: "Oh, shit! I probably just tripped a trigger mechanism. Now I wonder if I should take my hand off? We never had this in boot camp......"

Skunk's image must be a Kansas weather rock. If that rock rolls, you can bet your ass it's windy.

Where's the 1st I.D. Do-Nothing? Or the 1st I.D. walnut bowl? Souvneir corncob pipe?

What I can't figure out is that he has a 1ID patch, which is Army, but he has Air Force rank on his sleeve.

Can anyone explain?

A new military fad inspired by the swapping of national pins during the Olympics?

Unless he is just there to visit ...*booming voice* THE ROCK

It's possible he's an Air force weatherman attached to the 1st I.D. as part of The 1st Aviation Regiment.

The task force included; a company of four Ukrainian Mi-8 "Hip" helicopters, Company B of 2nd Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, Troop D of 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, one company of U.A.E. AH-64A "Apache" helicopters, the 236th Air Ambulance Company, a detachment of Air Traffic Servicemen from 3rd Battalion, 58th Aviation Regiment, and a detachment of Air Force Weathermen. The seven-month long deployment was a complete success, and the battalion returned home to Katterbach on June 19th, 2000.

First of all we have to establish this is a joke, not a weather device. Secondly, if he was in the 1st I.D. he'd know all about it. Therefore I think he's a tourist. :)
