My Halloween

Nothing But Net • Nov 1, 2004 12:31 am
This is my boyhood home (1969-1978). My room was above the carport, and I would climb out the window to smoke:
<img src="http://www.myrefrigerator.com/halloween2004/Boyhood home.jpg">

I'm just putting this here because it's stupid:
<img src="http://www.myrefrigerator.com/halloween2004/Tiger.jpg">

This red/blue state crap is getting out of hand:
<img src="http://www.myrefrigerator.com/halloween2004/Detroit.jpg">

It's not every day you see a cast iron gorilla on the side of the road:
<img src="http://www.myrefrigerator.com/halloween2004/Gorilla.jpg">

And of course, where there is gorilla, there is gorilla surfing:
<img src="http://www.myrefrigerator.com/halloween2004/GorillaSurfing.jpg">

Behind the gorilla there are rabbits:
<img src="http://www.myrefrigerator.com/halloween2004/Hutch1.jpg">
<img src="http://www.myrefrigerator.com/halloween2004/Hutch2.jpg">

There was a pastoral scene:
<img src="http://www.myrefrigerator.com/halloween2004/Pastoral.jpg">

Deer corn I understand, it's the 'recleaned' part I don't get:
<img src="http://www.myrefrigerator.com/halloween2004/Corn.jpg">

Interesting moon shot:

Honey, let's order something besides the chicken strips tonight:

The best sunset you have ever seen:

Nice house, although I'm sure you're funnin' us because you seem the kind of kid the parents would have made live in the carport.

Behind the gorilla there are rabbits:

Pets or meat?

Deer corn I understand, it's the 'recleaned' part I don't get:

I'm less concerned about the "recleaned" than am I about the fact that it's in a camoflage bag. Is that done for easier baiting and jacklighting?
Nothing But Net • Nov 1, 2004 2:22 am
Nice 'Roger and Me' ref, wolfers
Trilby • Nov 1, 2004 10:31 pm
Loved the moon shot. And, of course, with the gorilla surfing pic, I love you all the more. :heartpump:
elSicomoro • Nov 1, 2004 10:47 pm
Could you send me about a dozen tacos from Jack in the Box? I'm good for the cash.

This 'recleaned' word still bothers me. Couldn't they clean it good enough the first time? Do the deer really give a shit (even I'm not going there)? Since this is tantamount to a 'last meal' for the condemned, is a guilt-allaying feature?

That will be $5.94, plus tax. Tax that I can once again write off this year. Suckers! Preklsnxd dribe tsksfriufy. <b>syc</b>, they don't have JitB in PA? Then the tacos may not be as good as you remember, and it's a damn shame too. I loved them once, myself.
Elspode • Nov 1, 2004 11:46 pm
By dint of the fact that they were the only place open all night here in Bibleland (Grandview, MO) back in the 70's, JitB's Breakfast Jacks were my favorite "I'm really fucked up and need to eat" munchie.

The closest JitB's to Philadelphia are in Charlotte.

I just had their tacos while in St. Louis in September...and they're still mighty good. Plus, they have the best breakfast food of any fast-food chain.
Nothing But Net • Nov 2, 2004 1:28 am
I love you guys, I really do.

My local Jack puts my order (always a Breakfast Jack and two tacos) on the grill when they recognize my car. Best grease-the-alimentary in the world.

The best sunset you have ever seen:

I just got back from hunting last week and took these two shots.

wolf • Nov 2, 2004 12:46 pm
Wow. Nice shots!!

But more importantly, what did you hunt, did you get any, and what time is dinner?

Yeah, I got a good sized mule deer (3 x 3 buck), about 5 pheasants, and a few quail. We have about 9000 acres in Eastern Wa. Those shots were right by the Palouse River. I'm all set to make my venison chili and stew from the backstraps soon. :)

Here's the buck I got:

Scabies? Elspode, you are truly a mysterious kind of guy.

PS--I know someone who can give them to you, for a price. :3_eyes:
wolf • Nov 3, 2004 2:31 am
I know people who can give them to you for free.
Elspode • Nov 3, 2004 10:30 am
Not scabies...Scablands...the area of Washington State that was scoured out by the Ice Age glacial lakes busting open and pouring gazillions of gallons of water down the Columbia River basin.
Undertoad • Nov 3, 2004 10:35 am
That Bruce Springsteen song.

"Scablands, you gotta live it every day..."

Not that I know of. I didn't recognize the falls. Our land is about an hour south of Spokane in Whitman County. Near St. John, WA.

Sweet. Hit me with a pic if you get one.

Don't be frightened, folks...this is what happens to bass players after too many years of loud low frequencies and free beer. ;)

When I was in high school in the mid-70's they had a lot of JinB's in PA. Then some corporate scandal/restructuring happened and they dissapeared.

I was nostalgic for JinB too until last year when I went on a business trip to LA and had dinner one night at a JinB. I actually tried JinB and Del Taco. Taco Bell and Del Taco are way better than JinB, whose only advantage is that they deep fry the taco which adds flavor.

Taco Bell is alright...of course, it's half-assed Mexican food. I used to eat it damned near every day while in college. Then I went through a period where I didn't eat it for almost 2 years...probably because I was going with a girl that was half-Mexican most of that time.

Del Taco is not bad...their chicken soft tacos are particularly good, and so is their hot sauce.

JitB went through some hell in the 80s and early 90s--for a while, they were known as Monterey Jack's in some markets. Then there was the E.coli problem in Washington State. I kept eating there--they've always been one of the better fast-food places. I should put one of my Jack antenna balls on my car...of course, somebody will probably try to steal it...
