PM'ing Spammers

Elspode • Oct 11, 2004 12:29 am
I sent cigsofucker about a dozen PM's in quick succession and used up most of the foul names I knew. I hope that's why he stopped at seven posts...

I also went to their web site and sent them a nasty email. I'm sure they're quivering in their spike heel pumps now, yessirree...

I hate spamming assholes. I hope they smoke a lot of their product and die soon.

Oh, yeah. I sent him a PM, too, and told him to fuck the hell off. Maybe he got our message, Patrick!

ok? He obviously wasn't an effective spammer, because I have no idea what you're talking about. Sweet, huh?

I think UT quietly made all the evidence of the spammer disappear the next morning, but he was selling cigarettes.
Undertoad • Oct 12, 2004 5:12 pm
Seven threads started one morning by a spammer... it's pretty annoying and no easy way to prevent it.
Happy Monkey • Oct 12, 2004 5:39 pm
A good primer for posting, from another site.

Funny and very logical. Nice contribution to this thread HM.
Elspode • Oct 12, 2004 7:30 pm
Sigh. I think my thread starting/posting/validity has been impugned.

And here I thought I was performing a public service. See if I do battle with spammer scum anymore. What a bunch of ingrates. :boxers:

Hey, I wasn't pointing at you, I was pointing at the spammers. The phrase "Seven threads started one morning" reminded me of that video.

Set the system so that you have to approve new users.

I know this is not funny since spam can be a real problem on forums but actually I am just dying to ask this question.

Do you ban Nekkid and wear a Viking Helmet? As a fellow forum moderator I know it is the only way to be sure.

Hey Ep,

I think we all share your frustration. What we are looking for is a silver bullet to eliminate the problem.

Hey, while I'm here, anyone want to buy some Mason shoes? No? Ok, how about some Amway soap?

So.......the popsicle stick crucifixes are out of the question then, I'm guessing.

It was a very quiet evening on the board, Slang. I think me and Patrick were the only two members browsing the forums. Suddenly every single one was sporting a new thread touting discount cigarettes. It was very irritating. I seldom use obscenities, but I did that night when I also pm'ed the jerk. :mad2:
Elspode • Oct 13, 2004 12:30 pm
Sorry, HM...I thought you were pointing out that thread I started had no point since the offending topics had been removed...

I'm not usually knee-jerk, but we still have numerous issues going on in my small, insignificant part of the world.

Els, no matter how bumpy life gets, your thread starting/posting/validity will never be impugned, here in the Cellar. Which is a pretty high accolade for a damn hippy. :stickpoke

Damn, Cigarette sales spam and I missed it?? Thank you, Undertoad!!!

P.S. I'm on day shift again, and it's annoyingly cutting into my online time ...
