this is different from parachuting because you don't free fall, you actually fly forward, and when you get to a certain altitude, you full the chute.

I think the pics are fake but it's an interesting concept.
I've seen this sort of thing on the Discovery Channel. Specifically, there's some (I believe French?) guy who wears one of these outfits and goes zooming all over. There's even a record for duration and distance of flight from a given jump altitude.
I don't know for a fact that these pics are real, but the freefall/flight concept is absolutely genuine.

Yep, i also saw that french dude on tv! He' s been doing this for a while now and im sure he still does! He goes by ....miles / hour and .....minutes flying,
Cant remember the specifics anymore and dont wanna try to calculate! ( over here its kilometrs/hour!!)

I was watching Batman Beyond with Little Sidhe yesterday and thought it would be cool to see him do the new Batman outfit, which has similiar wings.
