Great Halloween Songs

I love Halloween--it's the best holiday on the calendar. I have an annual party with lots of fun and games and--MUSIC! What are your favorite Halloween tunes? And I don't mean exclusively "cartoon-ish" songs, either. Two of my favorites are I Put A Spell On You (Creedence) and, Hey Joe (Jimi).

I like a few songs from "Nightmare before Christmas" and "Rocky Horror".

Well, "Black Magic Woman" by Santana is my rather obvious choice. Also, "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac: "She moves like a cat through the night, and wouldn't you love to love her? Takes to the sky like a bird in flight, and who will be her lover?" Pretty mysterious!

My band does both those songs...

My Halloween all-time fave has to be "Monster Mash".

I prefer the Toccata and Fugue in G minor myself (Dracula's Castle music for the uninitiated).

An organ has a power all it's own and few other instruments can match it for sheer emotional effect. Maybe the violin, but have you ever heard a violin shake the floors?
No, the pipe organ is my hands-down favorite.

The Monster Mash by Bobby (Borris) Pickett

Bad Moon Rising - CCR

Witchy Woman by the Eagles might be appropriate.
Night on Bald Mountain, Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky
Boris the Spider, The Who
Thriller, Michael Jackson
Twilight Zone (aka When the Bullet Hits the Bone), Golden Earring
Godzilla, Blue Oyster Cult
Feed My Frankenstein, Alice Cooper

I always thought Gregorian Chant was kinda creepy. But I'm strange.

Samhain Night by Loreena McKennitt.

In fact, darn near anything by Loreen McKennitt.

Witchcraft

That Old Black Magic

Funeral March for a Marionette.

Tubular Bells

Danse Macabre

Dark Shadows Theme (and Josette's Theme from the same series)

March to the Scaffold

In the Hall of the Mountain King

Oh, and somewhere here, in a box, I have my Hallmark Cards Booklet of Peanuts Pumpkin Carols.

Absolutely essential for Halloween.

Much as I despise Starhawk's politics, I do like her Reclaiming Chants CD. Perfect for the New Year. (Second Chants isn't as good.)

Thought of a few more:

Frankenstein - Edgar Winter
All Souls Night - Loreena McKennitt
Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds

I also try to find the radio station cool enough to run the Orson Wells' broadcast.
