MAZZY STAR :

i am the accidental owner of her "so tonight that i might see" cd. i love it. if you haven't listened to her, you really should. (this cd came out in 1993...)

anyway, my question is, is there anybody out there who knows the correct pronounciation of her name???

is the "a" prounced like the "a" in "practice"
OR is it pronounced like the "a" in "face"????

i want to tell people about her, but i don't want to sound like an idiot.

I've always heard it pronounced like the "a" in "practice."

I have always heard it pronounced like "maze-y", but mostly by friends who pretended to know more about music than they did. Take that with approximately half a grain of salt.

FWIW (and that's not much) I had a huge Columbian red tail named Masie, pronounced like above, that I adopted from a friend who named her after Mazzy Star.

Since I'd never thought there was any controversy over it, you piqued my curiosity jane_says. Google provided the official Mazzy Star website, which says it's a short "a" as in cat.

"Among My Swan" is also an excellent disc. If you liked "So Tonight..." you probably owe it to yourself to pick it up. :)
