Google Zeitgeist

Google provides a snapshot of what is in the popular culture. After looking at it for a while, a few terrifying/marvelous conclusions come to mind.

I was going to say that Google knows everything about everyone, but it doesn't, really. It doesn't know anything about YOU. It knows *everything* about certain groups to which you might belong. Windows 95 users, for example. It could tell you the most popular bathroom paint color amongst Windows 95 users.

Its information is really valuable. Millions of dollars are spent chasing that kind of marketing information. Nobody else will know what is more popular and when that interest started and when it ended.

The most terrifying conclusion is that American sex symbols have worldwide appeal. Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Christina Aguilera take the top three in the UK and Germany, beating out homegrown, uh, "talent". Britney also wins the top spot amongst all women in Spain, France, Norway, Finland and Sweden. We ask: why does Europe hate the US so much? But if even French guys are whackin' it to Brit, I suspect the actual street opinion is incredibly and strangely diverse. "Zee AmeriCANS, zey are zo brash and uglee, but excusez moi whal I dream of spunking zees Breetnee baytween heer heaving AmeriCAN breasts."

Oh come on man, we know there are better choices but the cartoonish Brit is better fodder for my stupid stereotype character.

good point - brit is perfect for the situation. my comment is withdrawn.

*but you do have to admit that milano has weathered the test of time, while britney is jsut weathered*

Hmmm, male chauvinist pigs. :eyebrow:

Oh, BTW, remember, no matter how good she looks........

But anyway, Google is a great way to see what possible reception might be for a product or ad campaign and to track the success/penetration of said campaign.

Yeah, I'd take your average Page 3 Girl over any of those young ladies.

Looks like Russia's Google users didn't give a crap for the '04 Olympics...

Noticed that - I think they have too small a survey size if the #1 search is "Epson repair"

rather than a new thread i thought i would just put it here.

Sexpot songbird Britney Spears walked down the aisle with former backup dancer Kevin Federline at a surprise, five-minute ceremony before 25 guests at a private home in Los Angeles — her second marriage in just nine months.

damn - there goes my chance to marry britney spears.
at least for 8 or 9 months, anyway.

Oops - she did it again

Or just under three days, in the case of the 55-hr long marriage.

yeah, but after a relationship falls apart like that it takes a long time to pull yourself together and begin dating again, and then falling in love, the engagement, etc... britney needs at least 8 months for finish to start.

I cracked up at China. I don't have the Chinese character sets installed or turned on or whatever the hell on this machine here at work. The results are ????, Christina Aguilera, ????, ?????, ?????, ?????, ?????, ?????.

I guess we're all just people, all over the world.
