Southern Baptist Convention quits World Alliance

Expressing surprise that the rest of the world is not as conservative or single-mindedly pro-American as they are, the Southern Baptists are seceding from the rest of the world. Among other issues, they are upset that the world group supports gays and moderates. They will be heartened to hear a video greeting from President Bush.

Another other bright spots was a proposal stating that keeping your kids in public schools is acting in a sinful manner.

In related news, the president of Pakistan has been criticized for not following through on his promise to crack down on militant religious schools.

Could we send the SBC off to a place like, say, Wake Island?

One of our past doctors failed to realize that her marriage was doomed when for her honeymoon her minister husband took her to the Southern Baptist Convention Grand Convocation or whatever they call it. She had a lovely time in the hotel room when he went out to all-night preaching sessions down to the Denny's Restaurant.

One promising note in the article said they were worried about declining baptisms.
