Ow.

A firefighter tries to free an elderly woman from the debris of a collapsed apartment building in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The six-story, brick-and-cement structure crumbled while most of the 60 residents slept. At least 11 were killed; 25 others were believed to be trapped in the rubble.

And that yellow thing someone is handing her on the right? A lawyer's business card.

Actually, the guy's hands are turning the crank on that silver metallic thing. Looks like some sort of tool to move or lift up rocks...like a car jack but for collapsed buildings :P

what happened to her clothes?

Damn! That looks bad.

How long were they under there for? (or does that even matter, really?)

it always seems to me that these fatal disasters happen more often in poor countries like Bangladesh that have enough trouble already
Happy Monkey • Jun 10, 2004 11:47 pm
And some people in rich countries complain about building codes.

Damn...and skinned her elbow too. That's gonna leave a mark.

The thing with the yellow tag is a hydraulic rescue tool. I have no idea the brand, but if you look up Hurst Rescue tools you'll see what they look like, and probably what they'll do.

It's got to be terrifying to have your building just collapse around you. Wow.

It's Bangladesh... Checking the weather, it looks like the low temperature around now is 80-85 degrees F (28-30C)... I doubt she has air conditioning- so I bet she was sleeping with minimal clothing.

Yeah, I saw that play. I thought she deserved a red card.
