2/6: Japanese eel catchers

Ah, Japanese culture. Sometimes it's intriguing, but at other times it's just plain mystifying. Like the "hotels" where they sleep in drawers. Or the game shows where they try to terrify or embarrass people. Or this, a contest in which Japanese women, dressed in booties, helmets, and plastic coveralls, attempt to catch eels from a constructed pool of 2" deep water.

Here are two more pictures of the same event. You figure it out because I just can't.
