The REAL rename blue58 thread

jinx • May 25, 2004 7:00 pm
This is my 3000th post. I have been honored in the past by blue58, who dedicated his 200th post, and possibly his 300th to me. ( i think he actually screwed up and used it bitching at sycamore....but he meant to, i think)

I would like to return the favor.

Blue, I did not ask your permission to do this, but tough shit. If you don;t like all the attention, too bad. we like you.

So, you said once or twice that you chose your username hastily, and were interested in changing it to something better. UT says its's no prob technically, so I say we all suggest new names for you (sorry in advance for all of the wisecracks you're about to endure). We can even argue about whether or not to change it at all.

You are the only judge in this contest, so choose wisely. And if you go with a name that you've thought of already, fine. We won't think any less of you, you lame ass, making us waste all this time and effort. christ.
perth • May 25, 2004 7:01 pm
Hahahaha!

LJ, you really fucked this one up!

OK I was expecting something special, but this, this....I think I'm gonna cry.

I really have no say in this do I?

When's the deadline?

When I get a chance I'll explain the blue58 to the non CMEP people.
lumberjim • May 25, 2004 7:08 pm
ah! perth, you dick! now i can;t delet the thread!!!

edit: i deleted this once, but in all honesty THIS was my 3000th post, given that i used jinx's log in to post this thread.

I like the name Blue, actually, but it really really doesn't work with our last name so alas, I'll never get to name a child of mine Blue. Therefore, I'll suggest it here.

And there has to be some kind of MicroSloth joke in there somewhere ... MS-Nerd, mebbe ... not to actually imply that Blue58 is any kind of a nerd, actually. I do find him to be quite the cool fellow despite his irrational love for the Packers (go Bears).

Clodfobble • May 26, 2004 3:21 pm
He's mentioned before that he doesn't really like it. He just picked his high school football number, never realizing his user name would become important as he grew totally addicted to the Cellar.

WHERE IN THE FUCK, did you come up with this??

OK, blue58...my handle from a football board, if any of you have watched Favre a little he is always barking this out at the line...I'm a Packer fan so I've heard it thousands of times over the years. In fact it's considered almost sacred on the football board.

And I'll admit I just used it to register here, never realizing how beloved I'd be come, and needing a new handle....inspired by LJ's 3000th post. Look at my post count, now compare LJ and my register dates ;-)

Played a little football in Junior high....practiced like a dog but they wouldn't let me play in an actual game...too little.

Others I didn't have a clue about:

Nick Burns?
Terrance, Philip? Is that the south park guys?
Royston? wtf?

I kind of like "Blue", but it has no meaning.
"Fuzzybutt", but it sounds too gay.
Like "on the bun" but I've NEVER heard it before...how do I know you're not fucking with me?
Spanky is cool...is it taken UT?

Wolf is a Bears fan?! I understand that there are a lot of Eagles fans here...it's not your fault. And LJ is a freaking Cowboys fan (is his fault...he's retarded after all).
Happy Monkey • May 26, 2004 6:56 pm
I don't know why "Terrence" came up, but South Park is the reason I followed up with Philip...

Your profile says that you are/were a "frustrated IT guy" so I picked the name of Jimmy Fallon's character on SNL that fits that description to a "T." The "Nick Burns" skits are funny as hell to me but then again my wife is in IT and I'm kind of a geek, too.

Here's the script for one of the skits.

I'm borrowing the Sharpe books two by two from a friend. I don't usually read historical fiction, but these are fun.

I actually finished all of the Sharpe books I've got right now. Untill my next installment, I'm back to 1001 Nights. I'm up to night 280.

The Day The Earth Stood Still, actually.

Klaatu was also the name of a band mildly popular in the 70s. Their only actual hit was the pre-Carpenters version of "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft."

They were quite wonderful, in a pop kind of way.

Some of the interest in the band was generated by a series of "Klaatu is the Beatles" rumors, including searching for clues in their albums.
Elspode • May 28, 2004 11:13 am
I loved Klaatu, and never understood the whole "It's us...we're the Beatles" scam. They were terrific in their own right, and I *still* play their album regularly. In fact, I will be playing "Calling Occupants" this weekend on the Pagan radio low power station at Fest.
Elspode • May 28, 2004 11:21 am
Oh, and I forgot to suggest an alternative handle...Pagans are notorious for alternative handles.

Morbius - the mad scientist from "Forbidden Planet"

IMADV8 - Because I've always thought it would be a great personalized license plate.

Sgt. Hulka - this one needs no explanation

Sean Penn - because you can go all postal on people and you'll still win awards

Pete Best - the guy who left the Beatles too early
