Has anybody read "The Magician's Assistant" by Anne Patchet?
It isnt ( as the title might suggest) a fantasy book. It does havea touch of magical realism to it though. Very very good. i can highly recommend it to anyone who wants an engaging page turner with unusual but completely realistic characters. Quite delightful.
