There should be a barcode on every bathing suit tag, and a little gauge at the check-out counter where the salesgirl can swipe the tag and then lights on the customer side of the counter would display a width in green, yellow, and red, letting the customer know whether they are too wide to purchase that particular style.
The same barcodes should be placed on any item made with spandex.
