Another dead dude on IotD - this one interesting because it was NOT mummified, but sat there anyway for years and years. This monk died in 1723 in Vietnam, apparently in the lotus position, and sat there resting peacefully since then in a tower in a remote pagoda.

OK, maybe he was partly mummified - he was coated in some sort of protective paint, so that the only damage he took was the loss of one eye socket and both arms. Well you can't have everything.

The full story does not give us much more information, but I think I would like to be painted with some weird paint and just sit there for a few centuries after I die. Only the first few decades seem boring, I'm sure.

What? Not cremated and scattered in the woods in Franconia with the rest of the family??

One of the best. The trees, the mushrooms, the mountains...

It is probably best that he expired. He would have had a bitch of a case of leg cramps otherwise.

I'm just imagining how pissed off her is going to be when he comes out of his trance and finds himself in a box with no arms.

*picturing Julian Sands standing over him*

Evidently the work of Oddjob. The victim suffocated although the eye socket was not covered in paint.

I wonder if Ted Williams will end up looking like this.

Anyone think (like me) that this dude looks a lot like Gollum?

I think he mostly looks like ...dead.;)

I'm guessing he died because his legs fell asleep, and he REALLY hated pins and needles.
