Why April Needs to be IP Banned

perth • Dec 5, 2003 3:30 pm
Below is the text of a PM April sent me yesterday when I challenged her reasons for coming here, after she chose option 2 (for those playing at home, that was "Because you're a troll", paraphrased).

Come on now.

Listen no one knows this but you.

Most of the stuff I say, like the being raped forum was a lie ok. This yeah its true but some of it isn't. Calm down not all true.

I'll let that speak for itself.
april • Dec 5, 2003 3:33 pm
Go ahead do whatever the fuck you want run to undertoad and be a bitch.

Thats to ALL of you!
perth • Dec 5, 2003 3:34 pm
For what it's worth, this was my reply:

Okay, you've admitted and confirmed you're a troll. I've watched this board go to shit in the past month or so, in large part due to massive trolling by numerous people. The Cellar is an important part of my life as well as many others here. So asking me to calm down is like lighting my house on fire and then telling me to relax and watch it burn. If it were up to me and I did have banning rights you would have been IP banned the moment I read this message. As it is, it is not my decision so I get to grin and bear it. But I don't have to like it. Stop lying, stop begging for attention, think before you post and stop wasting people's time or I will post this PM to the public boards and any goodwill or sympathy you may have garnered here will go down the tubes before you can say "Goddamn, I didn't know Perth could be such an asshole".
Dagney • Dec 5, 2003 3:38 pm
I think we've reached the point where we have sufficient evidence that this child is abusing the ability to use the Internet during school hours.

Didn't someone track down what school went to and the associated IP address? I have her LogOn ID that she said she used at the school, (because she so brilliantly used it as her log on HERE previously)

I think it's time to contact the school district and advise them of what their students do during the school day.

I know that if I lived in Texas, I'd just be thrilled beyond words that this is what my tax dollars were paying for.

If she were my daughter, she'd be locked up in a girl's school and let out about when she was 30.

(And yes, I'm secretly waiting for the "I'm a troll on Internet Forum Boards edition of Jerry Springer - Starring April - the girl who admits to Lying)

She wasn't a 'text book' troll.

It wasn't her goal to provoke people. She was just bored to death during study hall and had nowhere to go. So she went to this forum and posted idiotic crap hoping to get some quick responses.

She probably posted the rape crap to get some sort of support/empathy from dave and others who were at the time trying to save her from the evil FNF.

Anyway no more out of me on this idiotic topic.

Glad it's over.
perth • Dec 5, 2003 3:58 pm
I tend to use the term "troll" loosely. She was trying to provoke a response of some kind be it positive or negative.

I was content to keep my mouth shut until she started with the wetback thing. That really touches a nerve with me. Several years back, I worked for a roofing company which employes a lot of (legal) mexican crews. This was in Iowa, and people yoused to call in irate the there were "wetbacks" and "mesksicans" working on their roof. The men I met on those crews were nothing but hard-working devoted family men and not a one of them deserved to be treated with anything but respect.
FileNotFound • Dec 5, 2003 4:01 pm
Odd..I never heard the term before.

Must not have made it to the east coast, that or I'm just excluded from hearing it due to working in IT etc..
Hubris Boy • Dec 5, 2003 4:09 pm
From the Jargon File:

Troll

1. v.,n. (from the Usenet group alt.folklore.urban)To utter a posting on Usenet designed to attract predictable responses or flames; or, the post itself. Derives from the phrase “trolling for newbies” which in turn comes from mainstream “trolling”, a style of fishing in which one trails bait through a likely spot hoping for a bite. The well-constructed troll is a post that induces lots of newbies and flamers to make themselves look even more clueless than they already do, while subtly conveying to the more savvy and experienced that it is in fact a deliberate troll. If you don't fall for the joke, you get to be in on it.

2. n. An individual who chronically trolls in sense 1; regularly posts specious arguments, flames or personal attacks to a newsgroup, discussion list, or in email for no other purpose than to annoy someone or disrupt a discussion. Trolls are recognizable by the fact that they have no real interest in learning about the topic at hand - they simply want to utter flame bait. Like the ugly creatures they are named after, they exhibit no redeeming characteristics, and as such, they are recognized as a lower form of life on the net, as in, “Oh, ignore him, he's just a troll.”

I think if you did that she'd just create 50 accounts to chat with herself...

I'm almost curious enough to try...
Cam • Dec 5, 2003 4:55 pm
Undertoad, I believe you've given that advice before, and no one here seems able to follow it. People get too much enjoyment out of flaming people and getting flamed back. It's kind of depressing.

she never claimed rape, juju. She just said she had sex at 12 yrs old with an oldr guy....

we(well, some of we) decided that it was rape.

It just depends on the person...ignoring some people works brilliantly. But for some folks, it's like the Morrissey song..."the more you ignore me, the closer I get."

I would be the latter. :)

As far as April goes, "Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people"--The Refreshments

If the PM she sent FnF was true ... I think it's damn awful that CPS is after her (not from the perspective that she's wrongly accused of something, but that she has been accused of something she actually did) AND that she's fleeing the jurisdiction and abandoning AprilJr AND that her parents appear to be in collusion with her (mom sending and father accepting).
insoluble • Dec 6, 2003 3:46 am
The baby would probably be in better hands were it adopted by a competent person/family. Do you really think that April turned out the way she did with no maternal influence? I bow to your superior psychological knowledge (Wolf), but I would guess that many of April's emotional issues stem from her upbringing, therefore the poor April Jr is being groomed to be another attention-grabbing delusional insecure fuckup who shirks responibility for her actions and endlessly seeks approval from others as a means of validating her self worth. So to sum up - CPS = good, April/April's mom = bad.

/edit - grammar/

I don't know which is more amusing. The nonsense posted by some teenage girl - or so much emotion from others here who should have been adult enough to just ignore it. Long time Cellar Dwellers will remember a man named Barak - who played the "white boys" incessently. He too got others all huffed up and emotional over what was simple silliness. The difference was that Barak openly acknowledged he was baiting the "white boys". It is not just April who was being absurdly amusing. Funny to watch the pots call the kettle black.

condescending, much?

the problem with a post like that is that if you respond to it, you're basically admitting guilt to what he accuses you of.

Very kind of you to point out our flaws,
Curious how you think your mindset is "our" mindset. Others responded to April with specific agendas. Dagney, for example, expressed both a curiosity and the hand of a helpful friend. Best way to summarize both Wolf and Oynxcougar's responses is 'tough love'. Beestie logically identified a sadistic relationship between April and some (only a few) posters. The relationship existed even if one poster would deny it.

Again, those posters were just the type that Barak setup to play. Those with self serving emotional objectives rather than logical ones. Those who were so quick to judge without first hearing something original. Some posted, as if only for a self serving 'sadistic' gratification, to attack a kid. Some of what they posted:
... are you being nice to April because you think you will be able to bang her?
or
She's a vacuum
Rather unfortunate that this kid, April, has put herself into this mess. And rather sad that her life may be in such disrepair that she puts it all out for everyone to read - maybe a classic call for help. And yes, she is a kid apparently with parents who may also still be kids.

Beestie did ask an important question. Since he could not get an honest answer from the actors, then he was forced to suggest an answer himself:
My opinion is that what we have here is a good, ole fashioned, online abusive relationship.
A curious question to those that are professionals in this science. Are some of the abusive responses to April precursors to a sadistic personality? Might this be the type of person that routinely takes delight at the expense of others in other social settings?

Like Barak, April was only an interesting lightning rod. Nothing there that should have made anyone angry - unless they are easy bait for the Barak types. Barak had an agenda to play some 'white boys' emotions - and did so successfully. However did April expose what may be unacceptable social behavior in some posters? Apparently some who abused April took delight in it - and also refused to answer Beestie's question.

Or maybe this long thread demonstrated the fundamental difference between those who insist all should conform to their morals - the Rush Limbaugh types - verses those who are not intolerant.

I don't approve of April's life style choices. But I am not so 'religious right extremist' or 'Rush Limbaugh' as to sadistically attack her. For that matter, I am not attacking anyone - simply posting a summary observation - and kudos to some who posted helpfully. I enjoyed watching posters such as Wolf, Dagney, and Onyxcougar post as responsible Americans do. They did not get emotionally upset. They remained logical - meaning they provided the thread with good input.

There are lessons here for the 'black pots' who emotionally attacked April. Unfortunately they are probably too emotional to want to hear it.

One can be disgusted by April. But an adult does not post those emotions. An adult posts logically - with an objective beneficial to all. Apparently some only attacked April for self serving, personal gratification.
lumberjim • Dec 8, 2003 7:39 pm
and some people can't resist an opportunity to make a wise crack. You assume that people give(gave) a shit about the girl....maybe you are right in one or two notable examples. I can only speak for myself, and can honestly say that my emotions remain in check. Unless you count withering distaste an emotion. I was simply tired of her and FnF squashing the topic of every thread that they crossed paths on. And with a little coaching, FnF took the hint. I don't know you, tw, but you seem to use big words easily and have good grammar, so I'll assume (for the moment) that you are of reasonable intelligence. The issue I have here is the tone.

Please try not to sound so high and mighty. This is only a request. I don't have any right to tell you how to act, but your post made me edgy. Pardon the sarcasm in my reply if you please, but while you were chastising the dwellars for responding to "trolling", you were, yourself, trolling.

Again, you are assuming emotional perspective. If I call you a f-ing asshole or simply stupid; notice, it would only come with logical reasons for that bottom line conclusion. I don't post politically correct. In fact I have little respect for political correctness. Those who are politically correct are too often liars. To understand what and why I have posted, only look as the logical facts; what has been acutally posted. Read nothing implied; only look for other interpretations because English can mispresent the original point. Furthermore, I don't care how you emotionally perceive my posts (which is probably why Bruce has so much distress with my posts- he may have been raised by politically correct adults and demands same). But if you think I have come off high and almighty, then you have not a clue as to where I am coming from. The only part in my posts that have any relevance is the logical progression and the blunt honest (politically incorrect) thought. I make no attempt to do what I was raised to do - be politically correct - lie to be polite.

In simple terms, if April inspired any emotions, then the adult thing to do is simply ignore those emotions - post nothing. That is what adults must do with children. And clearly April was a child - regardless of age or sexual maturity of her body. A more interesting question is why she is a child - be it from low intelligence or from her peers masking as adults. Again, there is nothing to be concluded or drawn from these sentences about April other than logical curiousity, speculation, or confusion as to who she really is(was). If you (or anyone else) perceives any 'friendly' or 'adversarial' relationship from me, then again, you have totally misconstrued my posts. I don't need (nor seek) either. Instead ask yourself why you have mistakenly jumped to such a conclusion - and instead ask why or where that logical progression of ideas has come from.

I simply watched this outrageously funny (or pathetic) progression of posts around April (and not all posts because there were too many). One trend that kept repeating: Some simply wanted to disparage or attack this girl only for personal emotional reasons. Why? There were no logical reasons to do so. That leaves only emotional reasons to attack her.

Not that I expected Dagney or Onyxcougar to help her since I suspect April is a victim of her adult peers. But nowhere - at no time - should you conclude anything implied; a subverted agenda; a hidden intention in anything I post. What I post was entirely what was my blunt intention - to identify attacks on a troubled girl who really did not deserve that apparently 'emotionally inspired' drubbing. Someone who may have been actually reaching out for help - exactly as a teenagers 'in more trouble than she wants to admit' might do.

Another said this thread should end. It ends easily when one is not emotionally attached. Its called 'stop reading it' - the logical response. Notice - this also was not an attack. No emotion should be implied or perceived. There is nothing high or almighty in that conclusion. It is brutal, frank honesty. If this thread (or April) has continued on too long, then be adult. Stop reading it. Where, in any of this, is a personal attack, an insult, or a decree from the Emperor?

April must scare Lumberjim. What a perfect example of one who cannot be bothered with anything not understood! Apparently Lumberjim knows better and must attack when others disagree - logically or emotionally.

Are you sure you are not April's father - or a relative? Such outright hostility simply because you don't understand something. Not even taking time to try to understand what you don't understand; but with too much time to insult. It demonstrates why such vicious attacks on April - which is the subject of this discussion. Did you fear her because you did not understand her? Apparently it is in your nature to attack anything not understood - a characteristic of intolerant extremists - and what happens when the wrong head is used for thinking.

I could give a shit about her. what's to understand? and where in the hell did you come up with the thinking with my dick bit?...really? what the fuck did i say that was sexual in any way? you should just stop and let it go, as you are exposing yourself as a fool. big words and haughty tones do not intelligence make.

this is the first time i have taken any real notice of what you post. judging by this experience, ( and I am a very good judge of character) i would characterize you as follows:

you are of average intelligence and above average education. I would say that you read a lot, but your comprehension is limited. I know people like you and they annoy me. you think that you are my better. your parents were probably rich. your father was or is very stoic, and your mom really doesn't matter. i'd also guess that you got beaten up a lot as a child, and harbor resentment borne in that period of your life. unpopular in the prep school that you attended, and most likely single now. i bet you're gay. you might even enjoy placing large vegetables up your ass. i would say that there is a good chance that you are wearing ladies underwear right now, and you shaved your legs in the bath this morning.

it is my opinion that the above makes just about as much sense as the SHIT you just made up.

I'm guessing that you're from Philadelphia, tw. Am I right?

Are you married? What do you do for a living?

I'm just curious.

xoxoxoBruce • Dec 9, 2003 7:38 pm
(which is probably why Bruce has so much distress with my posts- he may have been raised by politically correct adults and demands same).
:haha: :haha: Not even close, TW.
The thing that "distresses" me about your posts is your habit of coming into a thread, telling everyone what they think is preposterous and irrelevant, then setting off on your own agenda which has only a 50 % chance of being remotely related to the thread.
The other thing is your habit of lecturing on something you read in the economist or somewhere as if it were written in stone by the hand of God and anyone that doesn't understand or agree is a fool.
Summary- You come off as pompous and annoying and that turns people off, which is a shame because sometimes you do have good points to make. You can say, if they can't understand your facts without emotion it's their loss but if you can't communicate with them it's really your loss.

yes
juju • Dec 9, 2003 8:11 pm
See, I've always thought that being gay meant you were attracted to men. So, if for some strange reason you enjoyed having sex with men you weren't attracted to, you'd just be "experimenting".
Undertoad • Dec 9, 2003 8:14 pm
And here I thought our relationship meant something to you.
lumberjim • Dec 9, 2003 8:15 pm
you said "repeatedly"

this excludes unwilling participation of people like prisoners and members of the navy.

-just kidding about the navy part-
juju • Dec 9, 2003 8:25 pm
Yes, but it is possible for one to repeatedly consent to being fucked up the ass by a virile, sweaty young stallion, and still not be attracted to men in the slightest.
OnyxCougar • Dec 9, 2003 8:28 pm
That's beastiality, honey.
juju • Dec 9, 2003 8:34 pm
Whoops. By "stallion" of course, I mean "strong, fit, virile young man.".

But of course I shouldn't preclude the possibility of someone consenting to be with an old, filthy rich homosexual. In that case it would be just for the cash! Millions, billions of dollars in inheritance perhaps.. just for putting up with some old man getting his jollies off in you every night. Would that make a person gay? Or just greedy?
lumberjim • Dec 9, 2003 8:56 pm
oh christ! juju, you're beginning to worry me.

No no no..

See lumberjim used green.

LUVBUGZ is a repulsive sea-green abomination.

There is a difference. Regular green isn't as faded and easier to read...but as I said earlier. Out of the 4 choices she had to pick the absolute worst one...I bet it took her hours...

No she abused her computer.

She used it to post ignorant drivel. That is certainly not a computers intended use.

And she did it in pale green on a gray background.

That is certainly not a computers intended use.

She probably uses it to look at porn too.

This was the first time she pulled crap like that. Other crap was rampant, but this was the first stupid colors thing.

I think what lumberjim is trying to say is that people who choose to make their posts in a specific color are attention starved and desperate to set themselves apart from the group by using any means possible to distinguish themselves from the others.

Of course I could be wrong...
lumberjim • Dec 10, 2003 12:08 pm

Of course I could be wrong..
.

and you are. cougar has ALWAYS, in my experience, posted in purple. it makes her posts easier to identify as hers. i've got no problem with that, if she wants to make that effort to always put the color tags in, god bless.

don't start shit for me.......i can pick my own battles...just ask tw.
FileNotFound • Dec 10, 2003 12:37 pm
Wrong? Really? Odd..

I'd have thought you'd say that speaking in a specific color is like speaking in a fake accent to easier identify yourself from the crowd.

Oh and I refuse to speak to tw because he's 'sanity challanged' and types at seemlingly 2000 wpm, that or he hired an army of monkies to post for him. Either way, I doubt that I'd get a meaningful response from him. Asking if lumberjim picks his own fights would probably get a 3 page response regarding my emotional attachment to fights and lumberjim...

By the way...I've never known "Onyx" to be purple..black and white..but not purple.

interesting.......and before, you said this:

what interface are you using? I see cougar's color as purple. and there are 23 different colors to choose from when you use that feature.

was the black and white thing a play on words?
FileNotFound • Dec 10, 2003 1:06 pm
The 4 color choices was in reference to LUVBUGZ and the 4 variants of green on this forum as green is her second favourite color...purple being the first. And since LUVBUGZ just feels that she MUST be distinguished due to her awe inspiring ignorance she chose to use 'sea-green'

OnyxCougar posts in purple.

Onyx is a kind of stone, its' either a black gem used in jewlery or white marble.

Oh and cougars are yellow/orange..
lumberjim • Dec 10, 2003 1:09 pm
AH....i seeeee..........boy is my face RED

And OnyxCougars are Black Panthers.
And technically, I post in indigo.
FileNotFound • Dec 10, 2003 3:30 pm
Gha!

Well technically a bb is not the best way to clasify color. Indigo is generaly "bluer" than the shade you use...of course there is also indigo blue which is blue with a purple shade...vs indigo which is purple with a blue shade...

Oh and Onyx != black.

"Onyx is a translucent stone with pleasing and highly varied color and markings. It is closely related to marble." - http://www.onyxartinc.com/what_is_onyx.shtml

Although Cougar, puma, panther, and mountain lion are indeed the same thing.

So technically OnyxCougar means "A large feline the color of which may be varied".

But thats if you insist on getting technical...

I was all ready to post a shitty reply when it occured to me you might not mean the above post to be as petty and immature as it sounds.
