Interesting protest dep't: these are Indian activists, marking the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery in New Delhi.

And some activists are children: formerly bonded workers, and rescued from lives of slavery by welfare organizations.

Damn.

A hundred and forty-odd years from now, their descendants will be demanding reparations from us.

I'm pretty sure it's our fault.
Stonan • Dec 3, 2003 3:57 pm
With luck the reparations will come from the coffers of the corporations responsible, not the taxpayer...

Good one! Corporations taking responsibility while the government is controlled by Republicans.

That's funny!
Ghost • Dec 3, 2003 5:32 pm
Wow, they have really harsh penalties for protesting there.

"Forced work for no pay under the threat of violence - this is the reality for millions of people enslaved today around the world. Slavery Today is an interactive overview, designed to both educate and inspire. The following exhibits depict the realities of contemporary slavery - and examine how free people can help end it."

Hey kids, I know you used to be slaves, you want to be bound and gagged just for old times sake? It'll be a hoot.
MAdMoNKEY • Dec 4, 2003 1:11 pm
I bet the organizers made the protesters do all the work...

I hope those kids protested after their 16 hour work day. Otherwise the cost might go up on my Nike's.
