12/2/2003: Railroad tunnel afire

80 years ago, this Oregon tunnel was the site of the last great train robbery in the US. Today it's still used by freight trains, but not since about a week ago. Somebody lit off sparks or set a fire, which grew quickly because of the tunnel's creosote-coated wooden supports. It caused a section of the tunnel to collapse and an an enormous amount of smoke... and a great image.

They need a sign that says THAR BE DRAGONS.;)

Urk! Someone must have turned the brightness way down, I can't see the firebreathing dragon deep in the tunnel.

I'm on a rather limited maschine -- could someone with Photoshop correct the brightness problem and repost the image?

You wouldn't catch me going in there, knowing my luck there probably would be a dragon.:worried: P.S. I love the new smillie faces, can't wait to use them all.

The mother mountain says, "See what happens when you start smoking? Your tunnels collapse."

Motto for this photo: Don't smoke in bed.

If you do, it just mean's you're doing it too fast.
