The Steve Dallas Oracle

What the hell. Life is quite trying at the moment. It's been far too long since I've done anything even slightly resembling fun.

Hence I announce to you the formation of the Steve Dallas Oracle. You may ask the Oracle anything, by emailing oracle@barks.org. Your question will be pondered seriously by the Oracle's incarnations (AKA other people who emailed questions) and a reply emailed to you. The most humorous exchanges will be posted here.

There is at this point and probably for the near future, the forseeable future, and the Jetsons-like future no automation. The address will forward to yours truly for appropriate processing. While I will strip email headers from everything before forwarding it to anybody else for answering, I obviously cannot commit to any kind of super-duper anonymity.

Users who are, in the judgement of the High Priest, intolerably annoying in their [ab]use of the Oracle will have their emails forwarded to /dev/null.

This service will continue for as long as it remains amusing to me.

Let the enlightenment begin.

[The clueless may wish to read this posting about the "real" oracle for a bit of background. There was an in-house Oracle on the BBS version of The Cellar back in the day.]

I'm not nearly witty enough to respond to anything this group of folks would offer up, but I look forward to the results.

We're off to a slow start... don't be afraid to send those questions in!!

The Oracle has pondered your question

> How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

and graciously provides the following reply for your edification:

} Sorry, I've got no clue. I tried to find out, but this stupid
} owl kept biting into the pops every time I started doing
} research on the subject.

We have a pretty recent crop of newbies, and we only ever got maybe 3 questions. So I thought I'd bump this.

What a good idea. Everyone should have an Oracle to consult.
