Buddhist monks will be creating a sand mandala at Longwood Gardens Fri-Sun Oct 24-26. I'm taking my son to see it. If we go on Sunday, they will be giving out the sand from the mandala when they tear it down.

Interesting that you put this under Entertainment as opposed to Philosophy, Rich... :D

Sounds like a pretty cool event, though.

I believe that I saw that back in Sandpoint a few years ago. Definitely worth checking out.

There is an amazing preserved (thanks to 3M) Tibetan sand mandala at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Its so beautiful. Here is a site that shows step by step how they made it. Very cool. I tell ya, Rich, if I was near that Longwood Gardens I'd be a regular. What a great place!

Thanks for the link. I'm looking forward to seeing it. The monks are also performing a full program of songs and dancing at West Chester Unviersity. Mystical Arts of Tibet at West Chester University
