10/13/2003: Arnold in Afghanistan

The official caption says "Afghan girls pass a billboard of a young Arnold Schwarzenegger in an advertisement for a bodybuilding club in Kabul, Afghanistan, Oct. 2."

It looks like the Arnie phenomenon is somewhat worldwide. According to this Reuters story, Iraqis love Arnie and one Iraqi gym changed its name to "The Arnold Classic" after the election.

That link shows pretty clearly the arab world seems to idolize strength above all else. Maybe one of the reasons women are looked down on.

Note the after the election part Bruce. Maybe something to do with someone from a different continent making it in US politics?

Damn they put up campaign signs everywhere don't they?

Hey, did you notice that Bruce was referring to the link that UT provided? Did you follow the link? Part of the story on said link talked about an Iraqi that renamed his gym after Arnold. And you DO know that Iraqis are Arabs, right?
