Bling Shots

As I perfect my craft, I would like honest opinions on these pix. Of course there are many more to come.

How come he's counting two when her shoulders aren't on the mat?:D
Seriously though, it's a great picture. I think I would photoshop that white sock to darken it some, but the rest is super.:thumb:

Experiment with taking pictures with no flash, and/or get an off-camera flash that can be bounced. A direct on-camera flash usually lights some parts of the picture very harshly and leaves other parts underexposed. For instance, compare the two locks of hair hanging in front of her face with the rest of her hair. And the background is almost completely gone.

It's a good picture, though--the composition is interesting, and the cross draws attention to her arm when her face would otherwise command the foreground, and the man makes a good contrast--not just his skin (duh) but his hat & shirt, which are the only bright colors in the pic except for the woman's makeup.

Using the direct flash can lock you into one way of lighting a shot... learning to do it without the flash or with an aimed flash can give you more flexibility.

Good photo NBN :thumb:

Also might want to try using indrect lighting; some Store bought Hologen lamps ought to work for a cheap alternative to 1,000$ professional lighting systems.
Point them in from the sides (possibly using a reflective materal to tone down the light) as well as a diffuesed center light will take away from the sharp shadow that you see to the left of her head.
For the background it's easy to set up a portable curtain(White or some light color) that would take care of the background "noise"

I agree you could light the same picture a dozen different ways for a dozen different effects. But, I love the way you did it. I'm drawn to her face first then the cross. My eye follows the chain to the dude and then to the darker details to discover new things. It's kind of like a story unfolding, if that makes sense. Cool.:)

Yuh, I think so..

You're not really thinking about hats when you've got a leggy supermodel draping herself over you...

So, who are all these folks, NBN? Or am I just hopelessly out of the modern cult of personality loop?
