Internet rule

It looks like Europe will get this internet law. Wouldn't it be great if the people and organizations we cut up in the Cellar would respond.

Think of the burden of work this is to an individual... particularly the task of verifying the identity of someone who claims their right to respond. And I wonder if there is any language in the thing to dictate what a response can contain. If their response is a link from their homepage that bashes me, does that give me the right to repond to theirs?

I also wonder what the penalties will be for those who fail to comply... of course that will be up to those contries who decide to make the thing law.

Not necessarily.

While the Council of Europe is very influential and its proposals have a tendency to become law, that outcome is not guaranteed. After this week's anticipated approval by a working group, the full council will vote on the scheme, which will then be submitted to the member nations for final approval.
