What restaurants have you been to lately?
I have been to a pizza place in my area that sells THICK PIZZA (Only ones that do) -- No inside seating yet... Ya gotta order and leave......
And I have also been a couple times to a chinese buffet in my area.... I get the same thing I always get at it....
1) Mac and cheese
2) Pizza
3) Sweet and sour chicken
The lunch price is pretty good.. About $9 each or so..... (Dinner is almost 20!!!)
Not worth for me to go there for dinner as I dont eat anything but those three things! (Sometimes I have white rice also)

Neither Mac N Cheese nor Pizza are Chinese, and if you are going to eat out right now, buffet style is the worst choice you could make. But hey, you be you.... :rolleyes:

Went to pick up beer and noticed the Chinese joint 2 doors down has an open sign in the window. Husband cooks/packages and wife is waitress, cashier, cleaning lady, fish tank tender, etc. Very nice people, but her English isn't great although a hell of a lot better than my Chinese.
The sign on the door said call it in and pick it up, but I knocked on the window and she let me in. I always tip her well and yesterday extra well. She said no but I left it on the counter and went out to sit in my car and wait for her to bring it out which she did. When I got home I found a twenty in the bag. You haven't heard the last of this bitch, I will prevail!
On the way home I noticed the Burger King was gone. Not closed, building gone, poof, no more. :eyebrow:
We went to A&W after a hike this week. Outdoor distance seating rather than car window service. I think that was the first sit down meal I've had out in the world since March.
Take out has been hot wings from Old Union Hotel, Mexican from Los Tapatios, bbq (assorted) from Pinkies, and bbq chicken from Appalachian BBQ.

we went to Denny's last week in Tomah, and before was Mary Cody's in Onalaska last month. Very few places are open for anything.
My husband is extra careful. The only place, and that's only like twice, is drive-thru another Taco Bell. We were just too tired to deal with making food. We've been mainly cooking or just eating frozen food. We only went out once because I was talking to his friend and I had really wanted to go to this Mexican restaurant that Bruce would not make time to go with me. So, in talking about it, and fir a moment, I forgot about the pandemic, I said, "Hey, let's go there for dinner!" And the date was set. Haha.....Too bad that Bruce wasn't keen of the idea. There was outside seating. I had a huge margaritas, so all was good. :-D

Yesterday I went to the Buffet again :)
No Pizza on the bar this time so I only had sweet and sour chicken and mac and cheese..... They dont ever fill the bins much!!!!! -- I can only get a little bit of mac and cheese and its gone!!!!! (Usually by the time they refill it Im not hungry anymore :()
I had a piece of BBQ Chicken also........ I didnt realise they had BBQ Chicken and BBQ ribs on the lunch buffet (I thought those were dinner items) I dont usually get them anyway,I get the same stuff I always get........
Havent been to a restaurant for a good long while (for obvious reasons) I think my last visit to a restaurant was about 4 weeks before lockdown and we ate at the tables outside
- what I have been doing a lot lately is ordering takeout.
I have discovered a wonderful new Indian restaurant that delivers to my part of town. Delhi Walla Foods
Ohmigod. Just the best food. It's turned into my weekend treat most weeks. A couple of times, I've been really naughty and ordered a mid-week as well :P
I have yet to have a meal from there that isn't delicious.
And they do Gulab Jamun for dessert - and they are so efficient with their deliveries they are still hot by the time I have finished my main course.
Best Chicken Biryani I've had since I was a kid visiting my Gran.
They do really nice authentic street foods - stuff you just dont see on most menus, like Gol Gappe - Fried puff-pastry balls filled with spiced mashed potato, spiced water and tamarind juice.

Several - but most dont deliver where I am - have to actually go to the restaurant
There are like 5 or 6 within easy travel distance.
In the town centre, which is about a 10 minute drive away, you can get all sorts - Italian, Indian, Kashmiri, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Greek, Turkish, Tex-mex - those are just the little independents, there are also a bunch of chain restaurants and pizza parlours

Just discovered an Indian place not far from us, southeast Oxnard, easy to get at -- Masala Twist is the name. Takeout; chicken tikka, saag paneer, both ordered spicy and they sure were; brown rice. We're going back.

I had a big plate of mac and cheese and sweet and sour chicken and Pizza (It was better this time then the last 2 times)
I also had a small BBQ RIB piece which was excellent!
We just barely made Lunch price I think.... We got there @ 2:40 and didnt get our bill until after 3!! (The price changes to dinner @ 3pm)

We ordered ahead for a couple of taco plates from Los Cazadores. I had lingua and Twil had carne asada. When I got there the line was out the door, six or more feet apart, no mask no service, plexiglass partitions up between customer and cashier, between lines of customers, two cups of pens, one marked sterilized and the other marked dirty. Minimal time in the building, and sanitized my hands once I was back in the truck, washed my hands first the when I got home.
No buffet. They did used to have a little area where you'd fill up a cup with salsa, or get some lime wedges, or picked veggies, a condiment bar. No more.

Butcher & Baker Provisions after the ride. Twil got the steak sandwich and I got the fried chicken sandwich. The menu is filled with delicious food, I have never tasted anything from their kitchen that wasn't mouth watering. Their website is... functional, but practically devoid of food porn.
If you come, bring your appetite and your wallet. One will be filled and the other will be emptied. Both will be be happy with the change.

I miss buffets' breakfasts/brunches now (buffets are still dark). When the steam line puts out a new full tub of scrambled egg... yummy good fun, and copious.

That's why the wife and I try hitting the medium- and slow-food places, either on a takeout basis or with patio seating, as the locals style alfresco. Last time we went to Masala Twist -- Indian/Punjabi -- we took the patio option. Nice, if maybe a little breezy, near the Channel Islands Marina as it is.
McDonalds' Sausage and Egg McMuffin is more savory than its Egg McMuffin; either one is really made by its slice of burger-cheese.

It helped me as sometimes I didnt have enough $$$$ to get what I wanted and still do that..... Im not sure why she doesnt want to anymore... Sad story, the guy driving the Lexus SUV spent so much on it that he couldn't afford jeans for his daughter. Poor girls pants didn't fit so she had to cinch them with a belt and they were ripped right down the front of both legs. sad

I went to
Conor O'Neill's on Friday for a "late lunch" after a long walk with a friend. Sat outside. It's fabulous because the city has completely closed the usually busy Main Street to traffic so restaurants can expand covid-safely onto the pavement. I'm going again tomorrow night (well I guess later tonight) to meet a couple of friends I haven't seen for a while, one of whom is very cautious because she has elderly parents in assisted living housing. Probably the last night it will still be warm enough to eat outside comfortably in the evening.

I'm amazed that Popeye's fried chicken (with their green beans as a side) doesn't cause a more noticeable rise in my BGL. Negligible.
It's been a long time since I ate any kind of fried chicken, but I seem to recall Popeye's being much more of a skin-with-a-light-dusting-of-flour, compared to the thick batter of KFC and others. (Didn't KFC have both "crispy" and "original," with the latter being much closer to what Popeye's serves?)
Popeye's should surely only serve spinach drizzled in Olive Oyl?

How about outdoor restaurants? I went to a food trailer and the cheapest on the menu was $25. Sheesh I started to leave and a young lady in line said it was very good. Ok I'll try it which was a whole king crab over 6 large garlic sauteed shrimp over sausage and rice.

So I went to Seamons on US 9 just down the road from Myrtle Beach. They have king crab all you can eat for $26, but I just had some. I did the buffet with the best mac & cheese on the planet for $13.
