Mental illness and work

It's a drag. My last few stable jobs I had, one lasted 3 years before I became ill and had to leave. The next one lasted 6 years before I became ill and had to leave. My current job has been 2 years and now I'm getting the wobbles again. It always seems I can handle the work, but it's the people who always end up doing my head in.

Is the illness anxiety?

Schizo-affective disorder.

I wish you strength. Jobs are weird enough as it is...

Cheers.

I know it's not much comfort, but with a schizo-spectrum disorder you're doing really great to get 2-6 years at a stretch. That's awesome. Can't judge yourself by anyone else's metrics. The important thing is you can recognize the wobbles, and you've always picked yourself back up. You'll do it again this time, too.

Thanks a lot guys. I think I'll have a chat with my doctor today about it.

Hell, you know what it is (even the proper name), you know how to recognize it so it can't sneak up on you suddenly, you know who to talk to and he knows you, You've been there, done that got the t-shirt.

Sounds to me like while it's a pain in the ass as far as work goes, you're on top of this. Any chance of talking to your boss about a leave of absence rather than separation?

Yes I probably will have a word with him. The main person who's causing me problems is on holiday next week so that will give me some breathing space.

I'm glad you're on top of it, half to battle is understanding there is a battle. :thumb:
