Chad Wolf

Trump is casting people for a daytime soap opera about running a government. Though, to be fair, Chad heads the very important department whose greatest achievement is creating this chart in response to 9/11.

You know, it always completely baffled me that in FIFTH FUCKING GRADE the teacher was going on about Roy G. Biv like this was some intense new mnemonic we all had to work so hard on--like what are we going to do next, memorize the order of the damn numbers? Who DOESN'T know the rainbow, for chrissakes?

And yet...
Flint • Jul 27, 2020 5:44 pm
Yeah, so about Roy G. Biv-- who, in another context, ever mentions Indigo*?

It should be red, orange, yellow, green, blue, PURPLE.

...

*besides the Indigo Girls... ♪ Galileo's head was on the block... ♫

Purple isn't on the spectrum; it's a thing the eye/brain does when it sees the ends of the visible spectrum simultaneously.

I know, weird right? Even more perplexing is that the whole thing wraps up in a circular shape with triads. Why would a linear spectrum do that?
Happy Monkey • Jul 27, 2020 8:00 pm
I think that we don't actually see the spectrum directly for the other secondary colors either, it's just that the merging between red and green and between green and blue signals lines up with (and therefore approximates) the physical spectrum, while the merging between red and blue signals doesn't. But as far as our brain knows, it's just a ratio of rod info.

lol I missed this before. Back when I was employed we had to go through some training that had colored dots representing some scale in the WRONG FUCKING ORDER (with blue in between yellow and orange or some such travesty). Next time "OCD tendencies" came up in a "leadership meeting", I asked the boss -who is similarly inclined- if it bothered him too and he nearly hit the roof grateful that someone else had spotted it  Everyone else just looked on in bemusement as we got that rant out of our systems :D

Each color represents a number. Those colors (top to bottom) are 2, 3, 4, 6, and then 5.

I don't think so; I think I learned it from a science YouTube channel (or relearned it if I'd heard it before that.)
