The've spruced up the building and changed tow trucks but still chugging along...

Says since 1946.
Impressive.
Not as impressive as a guy with 70k posts here, but impressive.
The 1959 picture was for an ad showing off their brand new 1960 wrecker.
Barely noticed the place, but I'll try and take a pic next time I pass. I'm on the opposite side of town, but used to be over that way regularly when my kids were in school.
If the wrecker ain't broke, don't replace it, I reckon.

A few years a fellow I know bought a new tow truck. He said he had to make 300 runs a year just to pay for insurance.

oh I see, it's kind of shadowed by the Y, yeah if I go that way, I do see it because traffic crawls along there, but it's not very remarkable as a building. Its longevity of use is, though
Wrecker still wrecking I reckon
I wonder where those old gas pumps are now
Prolly in some guy's man cave...
We had a '60 GMC wrecker pulling a car out of a pond a while back.
Is the building with the turrets the Y? What is the tower in both pics?
The tower is just a chimbley I think. It used to be an industrial area, but now all the factories and warehouses are razed or turned into fancy loft apartment complexes.
The Y is the monstrous brick block in the recent street view
Yes, the tower is a Santa Claus trap.
Ann Arbor tire stores on Huron...
Firestone is still around...

Goodrich got repurposed... uh, honor, pride, dignity, glory.

An art noveau tire shop, still lookin' good over 70 years later.
If the sign says "SILKVORTE," Google can't find it.
I wonder who put the "Pride" guy in there. Twice.
The honor-pride-dignity-glory guy was standing there when the street view car went by, but the frontal view showing his true beauty didn't show the building well.
Weird is for W.
Google knows Silkworth.
And Fatty is going sue both Google and Bruce.
If he sues his identity will be revealed. Google photographed him in public which is perfectly legal. They blurred his face as a courtesy.
I merely reproduced Googles pictures which is acceptable. He doesn't have a leg to stand on.
Actually the coverage may clue him into cleaning up his act.
I think I know that guy...
