12/19/19 and I've avoided Little Drummer Boy.

Family challenge, so far Pete is out.
I heard a musical reference to it in a rap but it was ruled not Drummer Boy.

I LOVED that song when i was a little non-drumming boy.

We have it on a Harry Belafonte CD that hasn't made it into the rotation yet this season. I'm not going to play God and interfere with CD selection, so I may hear it this weekend.

So what are the stakes? Are we trying to NOT hear it while out and about, or trying TO hear it?


Is there a few seconds grace where you can run from the store shouting lalalalalala, or is it instant death from the first notes?

Avoid it. One note and you're out. Stakes? Never thought about that...

My shopping is done so, I've got a shot! I listened to a teenage girl with a ukulele in a bookstore this afternoon, that was sweet and drummer boy free.

I have yet to hear the Little Drummer Boy this year. I know my day is coming.

I clocked out 1st November. there are at least two versions on the store's piped playlist :(. Both fucking awful.

Well, I'm the last one standing. It's only a matter of time as we are full on Christmas music at this time. Lil Pete got burned by Bowie/Crosby Peace on Earth Little Drummer Boy mix.

It's an interesting and fun family/group exercise, however it implies hearing Little Drummer Boy Pa Rum Pum Pum Pum is a bad thing. That is not true.

I haven't heard the song yet this season, but every time I open this thread, it gets stuck in my head for a few hours.

I *was* the little drummer boy in 5th grade. They had me stand in front with a snare and play the part while the 2nd graders sang

Somebody had to do it. But the actual drumming in the song is kind of lame, and doesn't really stand up to having some kid be at the front and play it. Here's THE Little Drummer Boy and all he actually does is play embellished quarter notes.
