Nov 4th, 2019: Forces to be Reckoned With

John Force is a drag racer, 16-time NHRA and 1 time AHRA Funny Car champion driver and a 21-time champion car owner.
Force owns and drives for John Force Racing, and is a manly man in a position to establish a racing dynasty.
Poor John, four daughters but no son to carry on, tsk tsk.

His oldest daughter Adria Hight is the CFO of John Force Racing.
The girls are only worth three or four million each.

What’s this? Girl power?

Oh dear, how will she ever catch a husband if she beats them all?

Brittany captured the top speed record, but some guy name Prichett set a record 3.654 seconds elapsed time, edging out
Brittany’s 3.659, to save face for the boys.

Yeah, this guy...

In fairness to the boys, they are still building the cars the girls drive.

A runaway by 5 thousandths of a second!
At about the time I went to my first drag race at the LA County fairgrounds in Pomona, it was common knowledge that a 200 mph trap time was the maximum possible.

Anybody got the specs on that 338.17 engine?

It's insane how far they're pushing these big hunks of exploding metal.

Several years ago John Force made a commercial (for Castrol, I think) in which he stated:

"My crew chief (I think his name was Bernie Somethingorother) can build a nine thousand horsepower engine in 45 minutes. I can blow it up in less 4 seconds."

Force went through a phase where he blew the engine, or the clutch exploded, or the blower sneezed and blew the body off the car right at the finish line.

He is a quite entertaining post-race interviewee, as well.

I believe he set a reaction time record while in his sixties, too.

I remember when 160 was the theoretical limit, then M&H came along and blew that away.

One of his girls set a reaction time of 0.006.
That ain't reaction that's a lucky guess, dangerous game. Too easy to red light which would be embarrassing after using up a thousand dollars worth of fuel and wear getting to the line.

That might have been what I was thinking of. I thought I was sure, though.

Courtney bio...
She recorded a career best reaction time of .006 in the final event of 2009 at Pomona raceway.

But it's quite possible, make that likely, John set new best reaction times more than once in his fantastic career.
