The Los Angeles craigslist had a beat to hell bus, parked outside over 25 years for $5500. What?!?!:eyebrow:
It’s a 1941 Ford, 25 ft (7.62m) long, 6 ft 8 inch (2.01m) wide, and 8 ft (2.4m) high. Not very high for a bus.
The way it was kept low is a Marmon Herrington, flathead V-8, front wheel drive, with 18 inch (45.7cm) wheels.
That setup says it’s a custom build but for whom. The clue is the shape of the grille, the symbol of ([FONT="Century Gothic"]genuflect[/FONT]) Goddess Ma Bell.
Bell had a few of these built to carry Superman’s dressing rooms, to large events like state fairs or college games.
All too soon they went to military bases where men and women wanted to call Mom when their orders to ship out came down.
That’s OK son, Mom won’t mind if you call collect, but don’t talk too long as subsequent minutes aren’t as profitable...uh, er...
I mean there’s a line waiting.
