Mythbusting

Cowboys didn't play guitars very often.

The general itinerant nature of the cowboy life itself meant one had to travel lightly. Consequently, it would have been much more common for a musically inclined cowboy to employ smaller, more compact instruments such as a fiddle or violin, Jew's harp, harmonica, or a squeezebox, easily movable from one working gig to the next.

They spent most of their free time polishing the ventriloquism acts with their horses.

And here's another thing:

I've watched a western or twelve, and I ain't ever, EVER, seen a cowboy pull a skillet or pot outta his saddlebags settle down next the fire for the next three hours with gallon of water and actually cook beans.

But there's always beans.

And bacon. Ever watch the cowboy get something outta his saddlebags? Whatever he's retrieving, it's always the only thing in the bag. He never has to take three handfuls of stuf outta there, hand goes in, comes right back out holding what he was wanting. Where the fuck is that bacon? And those beans? And the pot/skillet?

Cowboys got bags of holding?:eyebrow:

That's why horses were always tied upwind of the campfire.

When a cowboy jumped on his horse and said Run like the wind, the horse knew that meant to run like the cowboy's passing wind was going to catch up with them.

Its almost always stolen cash. Otherwise there would be no plot line.
