We eat out a lot and most of the time when the food comes out people put their phones away and get down to business, rarely do we see people do what was described in the 2014 scenario. I'm a people watcher I notice things.

I rarely eat in a restaurant, but, I've seen ppl taking pics of their Wendy's hamburger.:neutral:

It's probably a lot more frequent than usual at "a famous restaurant in NYC". Or any restaurant featured in some sort of national media.

Yeah, someplace that comes with bragging rights because the folks back home have heard of it. Also it's NYC, so they have to deal with New Yorkers as customers. I've see this in Philly and Lancaster at places the tourists seek out.
