Have You Seen the Owl?

I've seen the Owl...

I can't find the damn spider.
Looking with a high power magnifying glass and low power microscope I'm always surprised how jagged and rough the lines on the bill are. I tend to forget that when I'm not looking at bills further than determining denomination.

OH! I've wondered about this weird image on the dollar bill for years and have never found an explanation for it.

I see it as an octopus, but what do I know?
